Places to Post Articles?
Hello,
I've heard that writing articles is a good way to get links to point to your site. Thing is, I have no idea where to find good sites for posting articles. I've tried a google search on 'articles' and 'submit articles' but nothing decent came up!!
Anyone got any ideas on decent sites to post some?
Thanks in advance,

Hi Gary
Have a peak at my sticky on the Content Blog:
A List of Good Directories to Post your Articles To
I can vouch for articles, not as a magic bullet, but certainly to generate a bit of interest.

Re: Places to Post Articles?
Can anyone explain to me what value a link from an article directory of PR6 could send to the 10,000s of websites with backlinks from the article directory.
I'll go with best guestimate work
We start with lets say 50,000 articles from one PR6 site.
so 6 divided by 50,000
0.00012 is the likley value.
Why with 10,000 links I might get 1/10 of PR1 Wheeeee!!
Now if we stretch it a bit further and realize the same article is posted on 50 other sites we then have 49 pages of duplicate content having zero value sending out no PageRank what so ever.
Then we should look at the advice we give business owners....lets use the Original Poster as a prime example.
Why are we having him waste his time with article marketing, knowing the numbers above??
Are we thinking before posting??? or do we tell people what we think they want to hear??
For example very few people looking to buy a gift are going to sit down at the computer and say to themselves....
" I need a gift for my best friend.....let me visit an article directory and see if I can find an article or 100 to read so I can figure out what kind of gift to buy my best friend"
Therefore we know the target market is not to be found on these article marketing sites, so WHY are we advising the website owner to undertake such???
Before posting responses we should all stop and think a bit about things as they relate to the individual posting and with a nod that we may have little information to go with at times.
"Misinformation is the leading cause of premature website death".

Re: Places to Post Articles?
That's why I am more concerned with the number of visitors a site gets. In addition to search engines, I'm not much of a fan of link value, page rank, and all that jazz.
I look more for how many visitors a site gets, and if the site is nice and user friendly, thus that site gets more repeat visitors.
The more visitors, and, repeat visitors a site gets, the more visitors going to my articles in that site. Then the more visitors I get to MY site.
There are A LOT of sites out there that do big traffic, but they don't have any rank. Nor do they mess with it.
It's a big world out there! Plenty of unknown high-traffic, low-ranking sites to see!

Re: Places to Post Articles?
Hey SEM advance
Interesting points, but leaving PageRank for one moment as its not important: Blog posts/articles/the like all provide information to the user, not necessarily customers.
Ok so using the example of the guy looking for the gift for his best friend: Say he wants to buy his mate a CD or a Mobile phone: How does he know what one to get? Whats the best one for his best mate's needs? Which one would keep best mate being best mate for another year at least?
You wouldn't just rush in and buy most of the wares on the market: You would read up on the best one to get, read independent reviews to see if they are any good, compare prices and so on.
I couldn't give a hoot about PageRank. If the information is serving the people who are going to become customers, then I say provide information all the way.

Re: Places to Post Articles?
Another thing you might want to do is to make sure your articles are unique and not just grabbing those plr articles and posting them to article sites.
If you are using plr articles, you need to rework them to make them more unique and not have your articles penalized by google and others for duplicate content.
