Default Google Alerts: Setting them up and benefiting from them

This is an extention of the discussion at;
Adding a blog to my site - what should I name the URL?

about what location to set up a blog on an already existing website.

Incredihelp mentioned that I should set up some google alerts and I did but I'm having some problems figuring out how these alerts can benefit our websit or bring more traffic to our future blog.

Below is an example of three typical alerts I have been getting. I haven't posted obvious irrelevant alerts.

Alert #1 - Senior Care.
46 senior citizens given dentures under Smile Project
... Senior Consultant Dr NC Mann said that more villages including Kokri
Kalan, Mukandpur, Manuke, Rauni and Dhamot have been taken under project,
where around 80 denture ... Other dental services such as teeth cleaning
and polishing, extraction of badly decayed teeth and restoring decayed
teeth are also taken care of by this ...

Alert #2 - Elderly Care.
Anger at adult care review plans
BBC News - UK

for has prompted angry criticism. The county council wants more voluntary

Alert #3 - Elderly Care.
Care already rationed
Buffalo News - NY, United States
What quality of care can the country provide to the elderly if insurance
programs are abused by swindlers or weakened by Americans whose living
habits drive ...

What can I do with these alerts that will either help our (future) blog or our present website? Should I post a link to our website with link text saying "...and you should check out our website where we sell senior clothing...".

I don't think so, that would be rather spammy so I'm not sure the Google Alerts will help me and/or the niche market I'm presently working in...

Yes it is tough learning to be creative with blog posts. Here is an example of a past client: This client sold display cases for sports memorabilia. Obviously alerts like this didn't turn up much either, just news articles about athletes in court and such. What we did then was to start writing posts on major sporting events and then lead into the fact that you can also purchase display cases with your favorites team jersey and such. Since San Antonio just won the NBA Championship, the author would cover the topic and then lead into the fact you can buy his cases and put your San Antonio memorabilia in it.

In your case their might be plenty of news out there about seniors everyday. I would suggest writing opinionated articles about such news (even if it isn't directly related to clothing) and then lead into the fact on what your website offers.
