Default My video

I have added a video (hosted on youtube) on my site at Spray Tanning Video - Tropical Sunrise which is for two purposes...

1. To show potential customers what a spray tan is like

2. To hopefully be passed around virally with some luck!

With regard to #2 as far as I can see it, I can benefit from

1. Sites linking directly to me
2. Sites linking to the utube vid which mentions my site and links to my site on the hosting page
3. Sites embeding the vid which mentions me, plus linking to me
4. Sites just embedding the vid which mentions me.

However, I just came across this.... blog.myspace.com/LARQUINES
where another spray tanner has embedded the vid, not linked to me, and says "Attached is a video is just a SAMPLE of what one would experience during an airbrush tanning session."

So, what do you recommend I should do? I am getting no link juice from it. Another business (though no direct competitor to me) is benefitting from my work and expense. Should I insist on a link? SHould I insist on its removal - or let myspace know so they remove it? Should I ban embedding via YouTube? (And if so can I still embed it on my site.) SHould I just leave it as is?

Certainly if they were just someone who added the vid cos they liked it or thought it was funny or such like, I would be happy, but another tanning business.... hmmm!

In a bit of a quandry here so puzzled as to what is best to do!

Cheers and TIA

John

Well, the key is that your logo is in it, but you can certainly ask them to stop distributing it on their site. If they refuse, then you can speak to MySpace about it as well.

In the end, how many times will this video get seen on their site, and is it worth the battle.

I would definately contact them, and discuss this issue, at least requesting a note a of acknowledgement on the video. Also, what terms did you agree to on YouTube? In regards to people being able to embed the video on their site? That could answer a lot of the legal issues as well.

Worst case, your logo and link is in the video and perhaps that will drive some people to you. Also, you video views on YouTube should be rising as well through this person.

you could always go into your youtube control panel and edit the settings so that other sites (external sites) cannot embed your video... and then they would have a "video is no longer available" on their MySpace page.

You can take the video re upload it to youtube - go to VideoDL.org - Download Online Video (Google Video, YouTube etc) in a Flash! pull it down as a .flv and then convert it to a .swf and host it on your server and embed it on your site if you don't want others using your video

Thanks Guys,

I contacted the MySpace person and they removed it and apologised profusely, so no problem there.
