Default Sitepal - useful or not?

I've been chatting with some WPW members here about a website that i'm trying to get more conversions on. I had the idea of using a Sitepal character to maintain the interest of the visitors and encourage them to sign up on the website.

Has anyone used a Sitepal character on one of their websites? Did it help or hinder?

Looking forward to your replies, thanks.

I personally have never used them, I think their kind of freaky. I do know one guy that used them and he did not get the results he had hoped for with it. Has anyone had good results with them?

In my experience, most sites that use SitePal need it because their site design and functionality are not intuitive enough for users.

An appealing and intuitive interface, functional site navigation system and usable search box will boost your sales and online conversions infinitely more than any talking character ever could.

Save your money and boost your sales. Improve your site usability.

Get yourself a copy of
Steve Krug's "Don't Make Me Think".

Great common sense advice.

If I see a Sitepal, I immediately close my browser. They're annoying in the extreme.

That's how I feel too but then I read their testimonials. They remind me of The Sims. lol
