Hi,
Just a quick question as I am new to all of this, do traffic exchanges really work? Do they provide legitimate customers to your website? I found a traffic affiliate site at http://aa.1asphost.com/thetrafficwrap (mode edit: no affiliate links, please) and I signed up to most of the traffic exchanges listed there. My site now receives more hits then I can handle, but I have had no enquiries from the provided traffic. Has anyone had success with traffic exchanges? Currently the only positive I have seen from this traffic is that my banner credits from my banner exchange has sky rocketed and hence providing the website with more click throughs on my banner which I believe is legitimate traffic. |

Unfortunately you would likely tell us more on your own exchanges... however as a matter of averages -- "no".
Simply put -- unless affiliates are highly targeted to your website info/product/service the potential return is minimal - general traffic tends to be just that - general "non-specific" on the sidewalk distribution sort-of-speak or "come-by-chance"!

Has'nt worked well for me. I have a few banners on my site toward the bottom of some good traffic exchanges and I get hits from them. Most people do what I did and that is click through sites to earn credits so others will click through my site to earn credits for themselves never really looking at any site much.
However, it's a numbers game and someone will sign up if you have enough people blowing through your site on their way to traffic for themselves. |

Yes it works if you have thousands of visitors on your site and if the ratio of link exchange is 1:1 so you get thousand other visitors comming from another source. But will not be targeted as most banner exchages or Pop up that other website uses are new websites (not famous) but you still get thousands of visitors. It s good just to make your stats rise and double. But if you are serious about having targeted customers, NO. It's not a good thing at all. What I will suggest is to get reciprocal links like (Linkpartners.com or use a software like Arelis to find targeted visitors and reciprocal links) Also if you link to high Google Page Rank websites, you get easily in top placement in Google.
That's what I do with my website and it works. I call this Website Promotion. You can also see another technique on an Idea on how to promote your site in my topics here : http://www.webproworld.com/viewtopic.php?t=14911

It all depends on what you are promoting on your website.
If you are promoting e-gold games, paid to email... paid to surf... type opportunities, chance are you will get a few sign ups. If you are promoting opportunities that require more than $50.00 monthly or products that sell for more than $50.00 you have little chance with traffic exchanges. |

Well, I built a successful business on exchangin traffic. Although I did it a bit differently. I own all the sites I exchange with. about 30 active internet properties, and was able to exchange successfully throughout.
If you have LOADS of control, they can work. Geo-Targeting or Category targeting. Otherwise, I agree with the previous comments....lots of USELESS traffic. AND...stay away from the sites that do the auto-traffic thing.....why have the hits, if nobody is looking at it. |
