Default Second Life, The Way To The Future?

Have you ever wondered what the Internet will be like in 10 years? Now we can get an idea. It seems that some people feel that Second Life is the way of the future.

Within that digital realm you can go anywhere. There are stores, beaches, golf courses, bars, ski areas, high-rise office buildings, fantastical animated cities, medieval role-playing regions, and sex clubs, all created by the users. Second Life has about 334,000 regular visitors. More than 2.6 million have checked it out, a figure that in mid-January was growing by about 20,000 per day.

Big business like IBM are looking at Second Life as a platform to build a whole new Internet and they have the money and backers to do just that. They see it has a way to sell merchandise and products online that takes social networking to a whole new level.

Looks like all the SEO’s will have to become tour guides. lol

The whole story is here and it’s and interesting one.

The time will tell how the real world will take on this especially the emotional impact on its residents comparing to the real world activities.

Sound good! I would prefer to spend my most of the free time there, my first ever boss always used to say;
If you don't know how to ride two horses at a time you have no right to be in a circus. -)

I just signed up last night to try this and it's cool, though I can see a high learning curve. Still not sure how you can sell products or services though. Does anyone have a lot of experience at Second Life?
