getting visitors from blogs is going to be the no 1 way to get the best targeted traffic. Especially if your a newbie and dont want to spend the money on google adwords (can turn out to be a bit costly)
remember to tag and ping...there are lots of ways to do this however you need to use targeted keywords ..why? the more targeted your visitors the more money you will make. Why just send 1000 of untargeted traffic to your site. lets say if you have a dog product why whould you send some who is into horses to your site. also the power of the blog is that people continuously return and you can post all sorts of things like specials, contests, adsense so you are actuall earning while your receiving traffic...the best yet. hope this helps.

I wrote a blog article yesterday it took me 2.5 hours, there is examples of code but it still took a while. One a day would seem too much time for me, depends what else you work on i guess.
ADMIN / MODS - sorry for the double post, but the page was taking ages to finish loading, and then i got an debug error( seems to happen quite often ) therefore ithought it hadn't sent. Apologies once again. |

I'd like to hear some ideas on how to make a site worth reading if anyone has the time. |
|

Design is decent, navigation makes sense, but there are many things that missing that would make me want to return and read more.
There appears to be no original content here whatsoever. There also appears to be no focus, no niche. There is little more than a teaser of an article, nothing is done in depth, at least in the few articles I clicked. Just a headline that makes you want to click, and then disappointment when you do, since the promise isn't fulfilled (unless you actually SEE that tiny font link to the real article.) This breaks the CARDINAL rule of web design-- Don't piss off your visitors. The only thing it's missing that would make it a scraper splog is adsense splashed all over the place. Though you may get people to visit, just based on getting some placement in the search engines, I don't think this will do a damn thing, since once people click on an article or two and realize there's nothing much there, they'll be gone, never to return. Could I be proved wrong? Yeah, I suppose so, but I don't think so. |

Hi bj,
The set up is a lot like Digg, fark and techmeme. Have you checked those out? The idea is to have the latest information for the industry, if you wanted to find out what was happening. this would be the place to find that information. I do agree with making the header link to the information. |

I know it's got mad traffic, but I never liked Digg. Fark is one of my "lunchtime" stops at least once a week.
I do think it's interesting that you pointed out three sites that all have a somewhat obvious focus. So far I don't see that in your site at all. Just my two cents, but you might do better writing your own two sentences with your opinion about the article you're linking to, rather than just copy/pasting from the linked article. And it's okay to occasionally disagree with a linked article, in fact that's something I think you could be quite good at. ;) Controversy drives much traffic. |

What does making firefox look like IE have to do with internet marketing? or the Zune phone? or Lycos email gripes? Or water bottles? Those are the obvious "sore thumbs" (there are probably a few more, but that was at first glance.) Some of the others are tangential at best.
Re Fark, I guess it's just the zaniness that appeals. It's a good laugh, and a glimpse of the true madness that is humanity. The Darwin Awards is another site that hits this same spot for me. But that's ME, and my opinion, though judging from the traffic at these sites a lot of people share it. Hmm. This could be an idea for you, though maybe not for this site. How about a site of crazy wacko internet marketing schemes that turned into memes? There are enough of them out there, but analyzing the successful ones, and also the ones that bombed (should be good for a few laughs) could be entertaining AND end up to be a hit in its own right. Successful ones that come to mind-- One Red Paper Clip Million Dollar Home Page |

Remember the site "Websites that Suck" and how popular it was way back when? Similar slant here, only I think you can also balance it with Internet Marketing ideas that were wildly successful. Offer both sides of the spectrum. Trick is to keep the focus. |

So, if you hit with this, what's my cut? ;)
|
|

LOL! Oh well, there goes my cut! A current workload that has me working 70 hours a week is quite enough, without adding the task of looking over your shoulder!
In fact I'm procrastinating right now . . . One more piece of advice. You might choose to get a bit wild and crazy with the graphics and layout (not OVERLY so, but more so than now) to match the subject matter. Maybe you can do something with a collage of screenshots of the over the top sites-- over the top in either the good or bad direction, that is. Good luck, Janeth! |
