Default ecommerce shop seo

There seems to be tons of info out there on the forums about SEOing sites that sell services, website designers, seo sites, hosting sites, real estate, travel or single product sites etc. But I believe that a lot of us out here have ecommerce sites that sell many different items such as giftware, tools (such as brian.mark's), household items, collectibles (myself)or whatever. Anyway tips etc. on optimizing a site with many different products is a major project and I think that it would be an interesting topic to have going. Anybody want to give it a shot?
Moderator, if this isn't the right forum, please move it. Thanks

The product or the content really has nothing to do with SEO. SEOing an ecommerce site is no different then SEOing a content site.

IMO I don't really think so, if your a site design company, hosting company or selling a blue widgit all you need to do is add a title about "site designing", "hosting" or "blue widgits" and write muliple pages about those subjects. When your selling items such as, gifts, tools, collectibles or whatever you need to be able to attract customers for maybe 1000 different types of item, vases, pictures, figurines or hammers, screwdrivers and electric drills etc. I carry over 4000 different items in my shop under maybe 50 - 60 catagories which means I need to at least attract customers for 50 -60 different keywords minimum, a lot harder than trying to cover one subject.

Ok, did a little thinking about this maybe I should be using the word marketing instead of SEO.
