Myspace is cool, but what happens when it goes down?
And is that professional? As much as I think of it is a cool idea, what person would actually trust anyone doing 'free business' on myspace compared to : www.bravenet.com - hmm, I can not locate it, so let's skip it; it was somewhat neat for a free site. Yahoo's geocities, well, we all know it's long url is a mess and limited access to files and languages such as asp and linux are a let down. But, I bet if you search Google for 'warren galloway', you'll find my old review of how I loved it before I 'knew' anything about web design or web development. www.catch-the-frog.com is a nice little up and coming website, more of a host/forwarding service with keywords (aka FrogWords) for clients to buy to access their site site easily. Myspace is like a stop off at a rundown 7-11 on a long roadtrip. The toilet is dirty, but I have to 'go' so.... Myspace has candy all over it, crashing my browser and some profiles are deadly with computer lock ups and even crashes. Though this is not often as it used to be, but it happens. I say good luck to anyone who decides to put serious business on myspace. I CAN see it as advertisement and leads to a safe, secure site domain. It works great to bring designers, gamers, card traders, anime freaks (no disrespect - I love anime also, to a point) and even more. But as a professional business, hmmm, how do you know the person advertising is not a 'phisher'? Would you give out your home address, phone number or credit card to a business on myspace? I know I would not. Each his own. Well, that is my $0.02 |

Hi,
I don't agree warreng_online but it's refreshing to see someone that knows exactly how they feel and are passionate about it. I wouldn't try to change your mind in a million years. I can't for one thing and what would be the point? I wouldn't think MYSpace would be a great place for a 'free' website and I don't think most people are doing that. It is a nice place when used as intended - a social network. As a marketer I love the marketing potential it offers. Not as a lone site but as an additional method of product/site promotion. I do feel your frustration. I can see how all of the graphics and media can slow a computer even using high speed access. And there are definitely some profiles that would offend a lot of people but considering the size of the site it's amazingly clean. I'm new to social networking and I'm certainly not anyone's spokesperson but I am having a little fun while creating business at the same time. The worse thing that could happen is to gain a few real friends. Thanks, Brian http://www.myspace.com/extremeezine |

For anyone serious about marketing on Myspace it's most definitely best utilized as an add on to an existing 'sales' site or marketing strategy.
Of course, the great benefit is that you can find profiles of prospects interested in your exact niche and contact them rather than relying on them finding you via your main site. But you have to take it further than simply add them to your friends and bulletin, message and comment them. As with any business you need to build a relationship with them and gain their confidence. As your profile gives them a glimpse at the real you, more so than the sales copy on your site could do, you're a big step closer to getting that relationship going. Those guys that transfer their sales copy to their Myspace profile are doomed to fail or at least see much poorer results than they would if they revealed themselves a little. Myspace users are not in the right frame of mind to be marketed to when they're cruising through the site and checking people out. Once you have your friends list you should endeavour to take them off Myspace and build a list for more direct contact and further relationship building. I've found Myspace to be a quick way to build a very targeted list. Not the fastest way but a relatively easy way and every extra soul on your list is a potential sale further down the line. ;) >Myspace has candy all over it, crashing my browser and some profiles are deadly with computer lock ups and even crashes. Though this is not often as it used to be, but it happens. There's an easy solution to this, I wrote a brief article about it here - http://youwilllovethis.info/MySpace-Virus.php And, hello Brian. I got a friend request from you a few weeks ago. ;) If you're interested in learning more on how to make money from Myspace then join my list here and get a free e-book in the process ;) - http://www.how-to-make-money-online....ot-com-riches/ |
