Default Question: will porn sites become accepted ad vehicles?

So I found out that PornoTube, a YouTube knockoff, jumped to the no. 253 in Alexa rankings in under two months. That makes me wonder, if porn sites become so popular and far reaching, if sites like these will move beyond niche marketing to include a minivan ad.

What do you think?

Article here.

Pornography has always driven technology, or caused the rapid adaptation of it. Think of the caveman - they weren't just drawing battles with buffalo's on the walls of their caves. Carvings in AngorWat? Carnal imaging has been with us forever.

What made VHS win over Beta? The porn producers quickly adopted the format and Beta died. What killed RCA's VideoDisk? Why did the CD and DVD win? RCA's ban on porn killed the VideoDisk, Philips licensing to whoever with no restrictions on content drove the CD and DVD to dominance. What is driving broadband? It's not Laverne and Shirley playbacks. Cable TV? Satellite? The "early adopters" were generally looking for porn.

Will advertisers follow?

First an advertising model has to be setup - free porn with something like AdWord ad's. I think you're seeing this already with the sites listing supposed hacked adult passwords. I can imagine this advancing to teaser sites providing limited free porn and advertising for pay-for-porn sites. Doubt if we'd see minivan ads - bet there would be lots of market for pay-for-porn sites though.

I think I missed that Brokeback Mountain shot . . . David, you wouldn't happen to have a link to that one (and any others you think might tickle our . . . um . . . funnybones,) would you?

Ohh . . . yeah, it does give you a certain, um, appeal. *snicker*

Now I just have ONE question. Why didn't they use the PimpJason pic on the WebProNews site the way they did BrokebackJason? Seems silly to just use it on the newsletter.

And, so others who maybe missed it on the newsletter can see what we're talking about, can one of you post it here??? We may as well make the record complete.
