I know you guys are IT experts. I'm new to Internet advertising. I know about PPC advertising in search engines, and also know a little about all those "buy traffic" websites that supposedly send hits to your website.
I've got my website up now: www.optinsearchdb.com and it's a site that helps small businesses market their products with either email marketing, telemarketing (phones), or postal marketing (snail mail) with a searchable optin database that gives full records dependant on a search through the site that indexes over 35 million full data records in the US. You can search by zip code and a radius of that zip code. I want to know what you guys (the experts) would recommend for advertising a site such as this. Would "buying traffic" really work? or are those types of sites scams? How about PPC Advertising if I have a budget of 700$? I know that probably wouldn't get me much traffic, but which search engine would be the best and most cost effective? Also, does anyone think that fax blasting to a list of business fax numbers could be effective? Because I have a list of one million US-businesses and their fax numbers in California. I don't want to use email marketing because i'm scared of the SPAM laws. What do you guys think would be my best advertising approach? Thanks in advance, help@optinsearchdb.com -J |

Hi,
First of all, PPC campaigns do work but only if you still got money for it. Yes, they could really boost your web traffic at no time, however, when the "pay" expires, your traffic will slow down too. I suggest that you have to look for long-term marketing/advertising campaigns. Essentially, when it comes to web marketing, you really have to work on things slow. Do not expect desired traffic at once because you could crash and burn. Moderate increase of traffic is normal and healthy, thus is highly recommended. So if you are new to all these stuff, hire someone or a specialist to help you with marketing and promotions. It is good that you know this stuff too, right? Just beware of scammers out there. Choose someone who is credible. Good luck!
