Newsletter to Promote Site
I'm presently in-charged with the newsletter writing but until now, with all the ideas that come out of my head I'm still worried with one thing: What are the appropriate things that should be included in a newsletter? Should it be something that is only about our company and services?

Hi,
The most important thing is that your newsletter be informative and filled with useful information, and not just something that says "Look what we have that you can buy." If your newsletter comes across as nothing but a big ad for your company then people won't want to read it.
Take a look at the topics I've covered in my website design newsletter here http://www.creativecauldron.com/Webs...Articles.shtml
You'll notice that most of my articles cover topics of interest to my readers instead of promoting my business. Instead of beating them over the head with a sales message I give them useful information, which keeps them coming back for more.
Have Fun,
Jeff

Hmmm I have browsed through that link you sent and from there I've seen that you have a list of topics there. The topics are indeed very informatice and provide some latest techniques. Just one question, if outright advertising is a big NO NO for newsletters why is that every page of your newsletter shows up some kind of an advertisement for your company?

Hi,
Advertising is not a No No for newsletters. Letting readers know who you are and what you offer is fine, just don't make that the driving force behind your newsletter. If I write an article about CSS, but spend less time talking about CSS and more time talking about how I offer that in my business and I'm the best person they can hire to create CSS and that every website should contain my CSS and so on, then the article is nothing but a big ad for me, which people don't like. If, on the other hand, I write about CSS, explain what they are and how to make them without overly promoting myself, then that's fine.
Writing an article, and following it with a blurb about you, or a resource box, is expected. But writing an ad about your business and trying to disguise it as an article is bad.
So promote away, but call an article an article, and an ad an ad.
Have Fun,
Jeff

Thanks for that great tip Jeff!
Let me tell my idea now. Since our , shall we say best performing and most-sought service is into link building, it was a coincidence that one of our agents got a nice merit for it from one of the places where she had concentrated for such work. Is it OK then if I put that as some sort of FYI to our clients/readers/potential clients? I was thinking that might invite them in to work with us...

Hi,
I always like to let people know when I get an award or good testimonal. It adds credability to your business. So go ahead and blow your own horn.
Have Fun,
Jeff

I was thinking to put that as 'side dish.' I'd like to introduce some new things that are related to our business, the breaking news that might as well involve our clients who are into e-commerce, and some new things about us.
I don't want to create a newsletter that's actually a spam farm.

Hi,
I have a small section at the top of my newsletter called Links n' Things. I put some useful links and any interesting information, like awards, here.
Have Fun,
Jeff
