nashville: Allow me, if you will, to throw a few (loose?) thoughts at you, as follows.
1. Who ARE you, what IS the purpose of your site, and HOW/WHY do visitors find it in the first place? I imagine you know the answers, but I'm not readily convinced that your visitor will or does.
2. The result IMHO is a somewhat confused visitor who perhaps shakes his/her head at what could/should be done next and, rather than taking the time to work things out, simply quits.
3. Sure, if I stick to your site and start to recognize what it all means, I come to understand that you're offering me (assuming I'm a potential pilot trainee) an overview of all/many of the schools that can, ahem, get me off the ground. I also suspect that if I take the additional time to browse through the various choices you offer (i.e. click here for more info), I'll begin to know where I could/should be best headed for the training I want. But, as you've come to realize, visitors aren't bothering to take this time.
4. This, in my view, has to mean one of two things. Either you're telling visitors more than they (really) want to know or the information is simply NOT what they're looking for (which brings me back to how/why people reach your site).
5. All in all, I can't but think that you could benefit from a fairly significant site overall, somewhat on the following lines:
a) Let us tell you who we are and what we can do for you.
b) We've created an overview and detailed guide to where the numerous flying schools are in different parts of the US and what each of them does/doesn't offer you.
c) We can therefore save you some time, effort, and (perhaps) frustration in, as it were, sorting the wheat from the chaff.
d) With our help, you can zero in on the school and training that you're looking for. We can then direct you to the appropriate contact person for a complete account of what you can expect from the school and its training.
e) Moreover, this information is all free and available to you without any obligation. (The schools themselves pay us a [small] fee for directing you to them.)
Apart from all this, perhaps you ought to have something in the way of a questionnaire form that visitors fill out with their requirements -- which you'll then pass on as a lead to the school that's most appropriate.
In effect, I guess I'm suggesting you need to -- ahem again -- take a lead from the numerous real estate lead generation sites. Many agents hate them for expecting payment for what may end up being a worthless lead. Nevertheless, the sites do seem to do very well for the sort of reasons I've implied above. They save potential buyers from having to browse through a heap of individual agent sites, none of which really feature the type/price/locale of the property a searcher wants to find. Moreover, there are enough agents who (gladly/cheerfully?) pay something for each lead they receive.
Yes? No?
