How frequent should you blog?
In an article I have read, frequent postings give negative effects on the Blogosphere like:
- decrease in the number of loyal readers
- produces poor content
- lessens the credibility of blogs
- bloggers would tend to write more about press releases
- there would be a creation of blogging landfill
So, what is the proper frequency in blogging?

I try to post at two or three times a week and make sure the content matches the target audience of the website.
It can take time to find your voice. Just keep trying.
Good luck!

Blog frequency
I've just checked back on the history of one of my blogs. I average about two posts per week. I guess it all depends what you've got to say.

If you blog for blogging sake, then I guess the quality of your posts will go down. But if you just blog because you have something to share, it doesn't matter how often you blog.

According to me, if every time you are posting informative content then it doesn’t matter how often you blog. But the problem arises when you are blogging just to add content. So while blogging it is important to add informative & fresh content, related with your categories.

To echo the general sentiments here, a content-relevant blog is key. But as we all know, the more fresh content you post, the more the search engines will love you... an ideal balance? Frequent and relevant content and updates. Of course, this requires a time commitment... at Share Results, we like to have at least a post a day to keep things interesting and to keep our readers reading. :) Of course, when you're immersed in the industry, new info comes up so often that we are rarely at a loss for bloggable topics :)

Hmm, I think it might be a mistake to draw the correlation between frequency and quality in the way you have.
I suspect that you should post as often as you can, while keeping the quality high. If you expect to have regular followers you may want to stick to some type of routine, that they can plan on. I think people like to get fresh and informative analysis and insight since things can change so fast.
You need new posts as soon as people have read yours already or the subject has evolved enough that your last post on it is no longer current.
As a case in point, look at some of the bigger blogs out there. They have multiple posts a day, perhaps in a big whack of posts, either in the morning or throughout the day. They may even have multiple contributers which helps to keep things flowing.
I know I've been doing a horrible job at blogging so far, but I've just got my first wordpress site set up, so it's on a domain I control instead of blogspot, and will be launching a site/domain dedicated to a blog in a few days. I'm looking forward to getting a bit more serious about it, heck, I've certainly got opinions!

Since blogs are interactive in nature, I dont think frequent posts can decrease its credibility.
These are two best example where you can see most of the posts are in the month of January 2006 in matt cutts blog and while the other blog of marketingprofs case there are too many posts in May 2006 itself; Nothing hamper to their credibility and popularity.
