Im currently working with a non-profit organization on redesigning their website and overhauling the current layout. One of the key goals is to improve internal search and be able to track those results since they currently can not. Does anyone have any companies (on the relative cheap but still highly effective) that I should check out that specialize in the internal site search?

You may find it useful to look at http://www.freefind.com/
Even if you choose and pay for the professional version, it isn't an expensive add-on. And the free version does a good enough job for many websites.

free find looks great but is there an option to further categorize the results. like can it display the results according to what category they are under?
