Default Help needed with Email Template

Hi all

I have been asked to develop an email template as part of a marketing campaign.

I have read Wen's glossary (very informative BTW) and I am assuming that the CSS file would have to be inline rather than an external file, but does anyone have any other good advice to give when developing an email template?

Or alternatively is there an online tutorial/guide which covers the essentials of Email templates and basic requirements for accessibility?

Any help will be gratefully received.

Many thanks,

Debbie,

I'm not sure if I understand what you want to do.

Are you creating an e-mail form for a web page on your site or an html file to be e-mailed to customers that contains an email form in it?

I had to do something similar and ran across this useful article about HTML emails: www.sitepoint.com/article/code-html-email-newsletters

I turned out using most of the things they recommend there and my HTML newsletter works great (even in many different webmail systems that each treat HTML emails differently, umph).

I need to develop an HTML page to be emailed to prospective customers that includes a link to their landing page so they can monitor its progress.

I have just re-read my post and I cannot see how it was confusing as I never said a thing about forms.

All css must be inline. Link to your images on the web, don't embed them into the email. Don't use outlook or word to make your emails, it redoes the code and screws it up. I use:

www.aweber.com

to send my bulk email, fabulous customer service

That's an excellent article. I'll definately be updating my HTML newsletter before I send anymore emails.

Quick thanks for linking to the two incarnations of an article I wrote about coding html email. I'm grateful for the teeny bit of attention.

Less than my article, however, I'd highly recommend you click through the resources links at the bottom of the article on my Reach Customers Online site. MailChimp has some excellent "works everywhere" email templates for free that are great to study. And Xavier Frenette (sp?) has tested how CSS works across a few email readers.

Thanks again!

May be worth having a read of this article about stylesheet control in webmail clients too.
