Default MSN Messenger used for Customer Support

Hi all

I have been digging on some of my main competitors and I have noticed that a few are offering MSN Messenger Support to their existing customers.

Does anyone here use MSN (or AIM or Yahoo Messenger) for the same reason? Do you set it up for your customers, how do you set it up and would you say it is effective in supporting customers when they run into problems?

If this is a here and now thing, obviously any help would be very well appreciated as I don't want to get left behind.

Many thanks and best regards,

Msn Messenger is an excellent tool. I use online telephones, but msn is better (more stable connection). Buy a headset and you can chat and write to your customer simultaneously.

When there is a free lunch, why not use it, especially when the quality is better than some paid services?

It is also possible to communicate with two persons at the same time from the same headset
- Msn
- Online telephone.

I use phone, fax, email, msn, aol, skype, yahoo - what ever my customer desires is the communication medium I use. Why not, they do not cost anything. I also use a live help script on my web site for non-customers.

I generally will only use the IMs for existing customers - which helps them and myself both.

I'm on Skype, but the only thing that freaks me out is that I keep getting people I don't know call me (some 16 year old from Germany for a start ?!?!? )

Is there a way you can restrict access on all of these facilities so the facility is only there for existing customers?

MSN looks a bit tacky on a sales website in my view. Liver Person is much better. That being said it is only a matter of time before Skype gets used for spam.
