Default My site is on the MSNBC Website & was on the "Today

I sell miniature dress form shaped jewelry displays and jewelry organizers.

I was thrilled to hear from a customer who saw my site, http://www.alldressforms.com, and a few of the products I sell, mentioned on the December 29th, 2005 holiday and style excerpt of the "Today Show" on television, and at the following link from the MSNBC website:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10627695/

I'd like to include the above link on my website with a link to the specific products that they discussed.

Are there any restrictions (copyright or otherwise) for adding such a link or any disclaimers I should add if I put that link on my site? I'm trying to use the information to further promote my site. (obviously!)

BTW, my URL is located at the end of the second paragraph of the "Reinvent your style" section of the article. The video shows a few of my jewelry holders.

Thanks,
Steph

Forum is ok ...

I do not know about the legal situation in the U.S., but over here in Germany you cannot stop someone linking to you, as long as it is not done in a very derogative way. Linking is the very essence of the WWW and should basically be not controllable.

On a side note: Is this a permanent link? Portals like msnbc sometimes don't keep articles like this, or they offer a "permalink" for those who want to keep this.

It's been there for the past month now, so I'm hoping it stays there.

I mainly want to phrase the link and info in such a way that people know my site is mentioned, but I don't want them 'traveling' over there and forget to come back to my site. Can I quote part of what they say and mention it came from "this link"?

Thank you!
Steph

I decided to write to them asking if it's permanent. Thank you for the suggestion.

I don't see how they would have a problem with it. I think you should have the right to mention that your site was mentioned on theirs. Anyway, wait for their reply and go from there.

I haven't heard back from them so I decided to do what I hope is safe!

What I added about being on the Today Show on NBC and on the MSNBC website is on this page:

http://www.alldressforms.com/all-del...rganizers.html

If you can't access the link, this is what it says:

"As seen on the December 29, 2005 episode of the "Today Show" on NBC during the style segment by "Style expert Bobbie Thomas presenting the latest gadgets in getting organized with the "Today" show's Alexis Glick." Excerpt from the article posted on the MSNBC website:

"Jewelry adds an extra touch to your look, but it can also create a beautiful display in your home. In order to wear what you have, you must first see what you own. Don’t hide your brilliant baubles in a drawer or box, use jewelry stands to remind you of your most precious pieces. Collectible dress forms will also showcase what you have and become heirlooms of their own. (www.alldressforms.com)". Full article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10627695/."

That looks good to me. The only thing is, I didn't know what trademark or copyright symbols to add, if any.

I believe I've done it the right way. Still no reply to my email but I didn't expect one.

What really surprised me was that they mentioned my website without ever getting in touch with me! It was a very pleasant surprise!

Default Yes, go ahead

Hello,

In my personal opinion, you should go ahead and link them from your website and you can even put there link on your website so that people who visit your website get notified that your website and services have been reviewed as one of the best by MSNBC television network.

Best of Luck...!
