Default Ten Vital Commandments On Website Marketing

It should be noted that a perfectly optimised website is good enough only to bring visitors ( whatever the number ) to your "shop window" i.e your website but where do we go from here is anybody's guess.

The Question Is ...

What do I do to convince the average visitor to my website to buy my product or sign up to my newsletter ?

For many an occassion your site is listed high enough , but to "hell and back" why don't somebody make an order ? :

Above all you need the psychological impact to transfer the momentum which should convert into a sale.

Margin Of Safety Or Break Even ?

This is simply how many clicks it must take to generate a sale and am not referring to "conversion per 1000 clicks" as this is a method used on the actual activity basis evaluation criteria when comparing your results to your budget.

Illustration : Your Product sells for $25.00 per unit ;
Your most effective keyword on the Google Adword Program comes in at $0.50 per click.

Analysis : You require a conversion ratio of 1 in 50 clicks under your top performing keyword(s) to generating a sale before your figures come out in the red.

Suggestion : A careful evaluation on keyword performance should be carried out then eliminate those keywords that are underperforming ( a converting buyer to non-buyer ratio of less than 1: 49 ) and set your budget to concentrate on the higher performing variables.

But Before You Do That, Consider This :

Ten Protocals of internet marketing :

For your potential customers you must give :

1. An impression of professionality and a sense of security and confidentiality.

2.True testimonials on benefits received for your product. Offer money back or no obligation guarantees ( usually limited to a stated period ) .

3. Reasons to return as potential customers will make an average of up to twenty visits to your site before they make up their minds. Here you improve the interactive element of your website.

4. Offers on freebies, introductory pricing below regular price. Trouble shooting and follow up assistance, deadline on offers.

5. A solid location of your business plus valid contact information. Do not hide behind your website, Google and Yahoo don't so why should you if you intend to conquer the global scene of marketing you product. An official business address increases the confidence of would be buyers to your website.

There's some good ideas here. But I'd suggest rewording the 1st rule.

"1. An impression of professionality..."

is just plain wrong. If you want to convey a professional imgage, don't use made up words like "professionality". I'd change it to 'professionalism'.

Your customer will decide to go or stay in less then 5 seconds.

1. You have less then 5 seconds to tell your customer what your site is about.

2. You need a logo that says I'm a professional and here to stay.

3. Short sentences in bullets to grab the customer at the top of the page.

4. Easy to use navigation

5. Fast loading

Default Too much to pay?

Too much to pay?

Some Pay Per Click engines claim they are getting about $2.50 for each click on the main Keywords.

Do those sites ever make money or are they just tring to squeze out the compertion?

Are the prices claimed by the Pay Per Click engines genuine?

Default About The commandments

Hey Guys thanks for the replies and suggestions and you look a bit closer you would have realised that I had only managed to list 5 of the ten in order to keep it short.

The rest of the post incidentently included some of the additionmal comments you made and as for for the word "professionality" pardon the "French" as i was searching high and low for my dictionary, so ruuning out of patience I "improvised".

Well thanks anyway for your responses and comments.

I am going to post 6 - 10 in a few moments.

Default Ten Vital Commandment For Online Marketing..Pt2

Here's the concluding "Chapter" to the Ten Vital Commandments Of Online Marketing :

You Must Give :-

6. Your shopping cart or order page the options of accepting as many secure forms of payments as possible whether credit cards, debit cards, online line cheques, snail mail cheques - preferably banker's draft.
Accept orders through various forms of media i.e e-mail, snail mail, fax, text message, telephone etc;

7. An absolutely professional structure to your webpages i.e logo, ease of navigation, faq's etc;

8. An idea of exactly what you would want the visitor to buy from you ahead of any free or complimentary offer you may have on your website. These freebies should be a post transaction thrown-in as a "thank you please buy from me again" method of marketing.

9. Assurance that you have exactly what the visitor is looking for. The relevancy by search approach as promoted by Google and their Page Ranking strategy is being applied here( that's a whole new episode by itself).

10. Attention to the methods and approaches in advertising strategies. Evaluating consistently and improve the "psychological impact" element of your ad copies.

And Now For The Freebie

Here's the freebie : 7 tips when launching or considering to join an affiliate program:

When Starting Your own or joining an affiliate program on must have or give :

1. A reasonable knowledge and accurate information on the product you are marketing. weak,semi-strong and strong A.C.C.U.R.A.T.E information should be given here.

2. Available resources ( financing for working capital included ) for the product.

3. Knowledge of what the current cycle of the product is i.e is this the "cash cow" stage or the "dead turkey" stage of existence?. No use trying to ride a dead log upstream .

4. Logistics i.e what methods do buyers normally purchase this product through and how is it delivered.

5.Geographics - location, location, loation a tie-in to logistics.

6.Demographics - who ? what is the typical earning of the purchasers. who buy the product ? Is is housewifes, teenagers,over 40 etc, etc, etc;

7.The highest responsive medium of communication - audio or visual, psychological emotional etc; what type of online or offline method of marketing would be best suited for the product in question.

These are the main areas along a list of finer points.

An integrated knowledge of the above will assist the affiliate marketer in determining on the "HOW" to promote any product he or she sees fit to represent.
