JUST AN IDEA - Please take a look.
We have some of the best marketing guys and girls around and it is a pleasure to Moderate this forum, so this is by way of me saying thank you.
My idea, I want you to consider each one of your sites as a Marketing Feature here at WPW. Most of you know that I run IBP and I can list your sites rankings world wide even for multiple keyword rankings. What I am proposing is simple. You tell us about the Good things you know about your sites and where you rank, and where you don't rank but would like to. If you are not certain PM me with your details, only PM e-mail addresses don't put them here please.
Who your competitors are, I can do that at the press of a button. Then we can look at their sites and see their strong points and work out how to get your site listed over theirs.
In other words a group project.
I am based as you know in the UK - I have recently discovered that over 95% of UK businesses do NOT have a website. So I want to know what percentages you have in your Country/ State whatever. And, and this is a real biggy. How you would go about getting Companies and Businesses in general to want to get a website and how we can get those businesses to join WPW! Can you do it? I bet you can.

IBP
Must be honest I will have to look up IBP. . But "I will be in it" Australian like to be in it...
'You tell us about the Good things you know about your sites'
There is only one good thing about my site - the design is pathetic, programing non existant. optimisation is a joke, and its is randomly spread over a few sites for reasons that are vaugly connected to my uploading habits and a slow connection. .
The good thing . . users like it.
my competition - I do not like ebay selling car parts . .
Now I did read the above post rather hurriedly, as I checked the other thread that I am in and there is a good chance I got the wrong end of the stick . . But I do that quite often and I have learned to live with my faults.

my competition - I do not like ebay selling car parts . . and I have never bother to look if there is any other opposition because I am basically a pig headed person, (but friendly with it)

Basically I saw Ctabak was asking . . so I gave, just hope I never gave something useless.....

local
local, is a problem for most businesses. the net is its own worse enemy. the local business person takes a look at the internet and types a few words into a search engine just for curiosity sake . . . and he does not get a result that tell him / her that this is where they should be.
sometimes if they are lucky they get a few local directories. . but a quick glance tells them they do not want to be in that either.
It's a free for all bunfight. . Its not attractive to a huge proportion of business. Why desert the local paper? . It gets the job done, The local radio station can pump the message to people as they drive to work. . If you have 50.000 people in one location to send a message to - then you need to be in that spot. The internet is not quite 'in the spot' yet, its more like a big blotchmudget that covers the continents..
I just made 'blotchmudget' up because I could not find a nicer descriptive word, and I like my own words better sometimes. . .

hehe, classic (excuse the pun) - OK already I know your main competitors http://vintagecars.about.com
www.antiquecar.com & www.classiccar.com
We can look at their sites, then do a "antiquecar" for example and find out where they submit to in Directories. Where they are in the SE's - All this takes is about 20 minutes, basically I type it in, miniaturise it and it tells me when its done!

more
About once a moth on television you will be confronted by a 'NEW KILLER VIRUS' the report usually mentions how many millions of dollars this will cost business . . when that begins to fade the local computer bloke drops a flyer in your letter box telling you it only costs %75 for their experts to come around and clean out all the spyware and viruses that are 95% sure to be there. . . Anti marketing campaign? . . just the new way we do thinks. . I spent most of my life in the old trades, with a few hundred years of background development.
very few builders recomend you pull up your foundations and start again because he does not prefer the brand of cement you used.
If you do not think the internet is scary . . talk to some real people...

ctabuk
Ctabuk. I know your not greatly into cars. but the above sites are well visited probably by my users.
but there is a basic difference between restorers, people who drive and maintain old cars, collectors, hot-rodders. It's a bit like a beerdrinker in the cocktail bar.
I think a better search term (I should have done this earlier would be ) pick a year make and model + 'parts' maybe ad 'wanted'
say '1965 oldsmobile parts wanted'
My target is a mixture of people that drive old classics because that what the can afford - or love for no reason, or just take them to bits and put them together because that what they do - or their dad owned one. My target is for those that have looked and cannot find, and know one of my users has one in the shed somewhere.

Tubby, great stuff, right, there are dozens of sites with parts for a 1965 Oldsmobile 1inamillion.cars .com
classiccarshowcase .com I've saved a list and if you want to read it PM me with your E mail.
All of these sites have dozens of pages with individual car html pages. The idea of this thread is show how other sites get their listings and what we can do to get you ahead of the competition! Simple stuff, now where's that beanstalk and that Giant?

I know ctabuk - there are websites everywhere. . I am actually laughing at the moment, we are a crazy mob realy. It is rather lucky for me that I do not realy know what I am doing. . The chances are if I did know I would have given up.
Maybe I should market the concept that I realy do know what I am doing. . and tempt all the others into giving up. In my younger days I was an amateur boxer (in the UK) Bristol. . after my 13th fight my trainer told me I was the worst boxer he has ever trained and if It was not for the knowledge that I knew I was going to win and sheer agression. I would not have made it through the first round of my first fight. I never lost a fight until I joined the army and an A company versus B company had one to many bantam weights and I volunteered to jump a weight because there were no heavier boxers. I punched the winner out when the ref held his arm up for a points win. . A company gave me the biggest cheer. . and the mps locked me up for the night. But I must admit I felt like I had let down every one in A coy, and three 3 minute rounds was not long enough to make a decision that I accepted. I gave boxing away untill they changed the rules to ones I could accept, the fight is not over untill I win. . I thought it was simple to understand.
yes I will take a look at the opposition mate. . But I do feel inclined to play my own game - and as I mentioned before I am pig headed. Not that I recomend pig-headedness as a marketing strategy, But I have enough in my history of doing things the right way to excuse myself the freedom of 'playing'
I do appreciate the forum, even If I get lost a bit and wander in peculiar directions occasionally. You do a great job..

Thanks Tubby.
I'm going a little off topic here because I'm getting a buzz from this thread. I do love old cars. In my 20's I had a Sunbeam Talbot 90 - One owner before me had fitted a 'stayspeed' or cruise control as it is now called. A bit 'Heath Robinson' but it worked after a fashion. A mate of mine asked if he could borrow it because he wanted to impress a new girlfriend. I agreed. I was sat in a pub in High Wycombe and another mate came in and asked if I had lent Ian my car (Bonnie and Clyde was the In movie so the running boards gave it status!)I said I had and he took me outside the pub and there was Ian driving down the High Street sat on the roof with his legs through the sunshine roof steering it with his feet. Never again!

Your email arrived Mate. I had a quick run through and there looks like a lot of information to look at,
initially I got a bit confused when I glanced through the report until I realised that the page the report refers to is the main page and not the page in the search results.
This looks like a usefull report for webmasters. So I should realy thank you by posting a message saying something like.
"Every serious webmaster needs an IBP report"
You just gotta love a car with running boards. .
