Don't let your guard down
I understand what you are saying about making it more personal and perhaps it will help to create credibility with your clients. However, if someone was going to scam they will use what ever to scam you – there are so many pics / photos available that it is very easy to create all the impression you need about a particular website.
My personal preference is to leave photos of the business owner away from the website – I feel that potential customers can just be as biased over the way someone looks as to the over all look of someone’s website and the services that they provide.
People are people and I’ve seen it in the past where a potential client would say the person on the website doesn’t look like he can do the job (looks too young, old, thin, fat, etc) even before speaking to the company!
Plus it gives away that you are a small company – large companies tend not to include pics of their employees on the website and people know this. If you were to click on the website and the first thing that came up was a photo of the owner – I’m pretty sure that you would think it’s a small company – some people may like dealing small companies and others may not.
You should never let your guard down too early in this competitive world.
