Default Anyone heard of or used IndustryBrains???

I was contacted by an account rep for IndustryBrains (http://www.industrybrains.com) last week in regards to some advertising for one of my clients. I have never heard of them, and was wondering if anyone had utilized thier advertising program, or had any feedback on their services. Thanks for your input!

Lucky you. If one of these jokers are contacting your clients, it means you've done something right.

I've never heard of them either, but look at it this way: if they're as good as they say they are, they'd be getting enough business from existing clients not to go around bothering you.

Did they use the "you're not marketed in search engines properly" tactic? Or the "Google gives top page ranking to pay-per-click advertisers?" Or my personal favourite, "your clients are losing money with their websites and you should really be more responsible?"

If they start telling you things like that, they usually found you as the result of a search engine lookup. There's another thread on here where I was able to get one of the SEO companies to admit as such.

In other words, it's a logically flawed argument since it usually means you're doing something right. Just tell them where they can go and move on.

Thanks for your response ADAM. Could you point me in the direction of where that thread is located that you talk about? I think it would be iteresting to read up on.

The rep from Industry Brains indicated they actually found our client through the banners that they use to advertise on one of their "publisher sites."

Below is part of the email that was sent by the rep.

I noticed you are currently running banners right now on Digitalmedianet.com. My company, IndustryBrains, actually powers the cost-per click marketplace all over digitalmedianet.com , as well as over 300 premium publisher sites. Our program will allow you to place text ads directly within relevant content to your products, and on a site-specific basis (no syndication). This will allow you to reach high value customers and greatly maximize ROI for your company, as you are in complete control of your advertising dollars and the audiences you will be reaching. You will also be able to increase your share of voice on digitalmedianet.com and the smaller more specific sites in their network.

I would love to set up a time to talk about the opportunities we have for your company, and how IndustryBrains can help your target high qualified buyers and maximize ROI via out premium sites.

It seems like I get several emails a week from places trying to sell thier services. Any pointers for choosing which services or tools are good opportunities, or which ones are better to forget about?

I actually contacted Industry Brains a few weeks ago. They mostly supply PPC advertising on tech oriented sites like tomshardware.com, popular science, etc. I know one of my competitors spends around $3000 through them and seems to do quite well. However he is using several other mediums so I have no idea how effective their advertising is. You can choose which of their affiliate websites that you'd like to have your ads displayed on as well. I'm thinking about throwing a few hundred at them to see how well it works so I'll keep you up to date.

Thanks for the update spenland.

The client that they contacted me about is a VERY tech oriented site. Currently the do some PPC through Google AdWords, but maybe Industry Brains would be a good additional medium.

Let me know how it does for you!

Well I've tried industry brains for about a month now and haven't had great results. My website is an ecommerce site that sells networking accessories. Although I was able to get quite a few clicks from their various partner sites, none of the clicks have converted to a sale yet. I think I may try one more month with them before I move on. Has anyone else had any luck with them?

Default Good seo's

Good seo's are usually very good at marketing clients websites but forget to market their own website at times, especially the ones overseas. I can point u to a very good seo/linkbuilder that i plan on partnering up with later on in 2006/2007. As long as its not competing in the fields im competing with, i can share their info via pm.
After outsourcing my seo i will never try seo's in england or america as they are way too expensive and ive been ripped off a few times allready. The trick when going overseas is to find teh right ones. Unfortunately there are alot of lemons you have go tthrough before u hit paydirt.
Pm me if your interested and ill provide reviews from other clients.
good luck
