Default PUT YOUR TOPIC IN THE SUBJECT !

Can the webmaster PLEASE put some big-ass banner or something that reads "PUT YOUR TOPIC IN THE SUBJET LINE FOR LINK EXCHANGES"? I'm wasting a ton of time going into subject like "link exchange request" just to make sure I'm not missing something only to find out time and time again that I wasn't.

The human brain searches for meaning by itself. Often people visual instead of read.

"PUT YOUR TOPIC IN THE SUBJECT !" Probaby only sends the message to fill in the Topics field.

Default Link topic master list?

It would be great if one of the paid or otherwise remarkably dedicated folks at WPW would assemble a single post (or specific group of posts) that stayed at the top of the "Link Exchange Request" forum which contained the following:

A frequently updated/edited list (alphabetized or somehow cleverly organized) of all the topics for which people have posted requests for link exchanges on this forum. Each item on the list would be a link, and take the user to the particular request posting on that topic.

As it is, wading through 70-odd and counting pages of posts, many of which don't even put their link topic in the subject, is not very practical, and a serious pain in the posterior.

What do you think, Garrett? Janeth? Is that even possible? Anybody else have any other ideas on how to make the "Link Exchange Request" forum more use-able? It's a great idea, but it seems a bit unwieldy to me in its present form.

People looking in this forum might also be interested in the thread in the "Search Engine Discussion" section in which people are submitting lists of general and topical directories which webmasters can submit their sites to and/or exchange links with:

http://www.webproworld.com/viewtopic.php?t=21900

p.s. - WPW veteran greeneagle pointed me to an excellent article about link building strategies. I found it very helpful and recommend it to anyone who thinks they could use help in that area. So I'm passing it on:

Default Sample of link-request Master List

As per my previous post, here's an example of what the master list might look like:

_________________________________

This list last updated xx/xx/xx

This is a Master List of all of the topics for which users posting to this forum have requested link exchanges. Next to each topic, clicking the # will bring you to the posting for that request.

When you post to this forum with a request, please be clear about what topic you are requesting links for so that we can include you on this list under the correct heading. If you are the first poster looking for links in a particular topic, we will add it to this list. A good choice would probably be to use the most important Keyword or Keyword Phrase from your site.

Please remember to include the topic in the subject line of your post or we may not be able to index your request on this list. Unless you make the topic clear to us, we will not add it to this list.

B
  • Balloons: decorating, twisting 1
  • Baskets: cookie, gift 1
C
  • Childrens activity site 1
  • Christmas sites 1
  • Collectibles 1
D
  • Dating 1 2

______________________________

Comments? The posting would essentially be a categorized directory of link request postings on this forum.

Wow, Paul! Great idea. I'd love that. I was having an inner rant about people not bothering to put anything in their titles except "Link Request PR5" and some such, and found this thread.

What's up with folks only interested in PR anyway? What happened to being interested in content and usefulness for our site's visitors?

I don't click through posts without at least a hint of the type of site they want to exchange links with in the title, in fact, I'd be interested to know why anyone would? Although, I'll admit - I'm intrigued when I see a lot of people have visited a post and almost compulsively must click through to see what I might be missing. LOL. Human nature can be amusing.

Default Separate directories from the Link Exchange forum?

Many, many of the postings to this forum which don't have a specific topic in the subject line are about directories. Although the borderline between directories and link pages seems to be a fuzzy one, perhaps it would help if there were a separate forum (also in the Search Engines section?) specifically to look for and offer Directory links. Although the line can be fuzzy, lumping all of them together with no distinction at all results in an even more confusing problem than separating them would, IMHO.

That might be an additional way to make this forum more user friendly and useful.

I'd suggest that people also specify on the subject line what region/country the site is targeting to maybe using the domain extension for that country (uk, ca, etc) even if the domain is a .com, .net, .etc.

If you build a directory, don't forget an environmental category! This will save me a lot of posting! Thanks.
