noobie mass mailers question
First off I want to thank the people wo made this site as I have been looking for a site where I can discuss emarketing without immediately being labeled a spammer!! So bear with me on this noob question:)
I am looking for a proggy that allows unsubscribe requests on a mailer that will act as a server so I can set it up to retrieve the requests in live time(my computer is on 24/7) I may not be using the right jargon but basically have it do the same as it does sending out email-bypassing my isp alltogether and allowing me to make up the sender and return email address. Maybe have it integrate with a program like outlook so it can dump the unsbscribes there or any emails that are sent back from the recipient.
Is this possible and if so can you guys/gals recommend some good ones for me to use. Even pointing me to a New User FAQ or book to help me make the most of it.
Thanks so much in advance for everyones time

Hi Gen1,
First, how can you be labeled a spammer?? Spamming us with a question, lol.
Assuming this is the definition for Proggy:
proggy: n.
1. Any computer program that is considered a full application.
I don't know how big your list is, but why not take a peek at ConstantContact.com... It's a web based system. It takes automatic unsubscribes... You can set it up to integrate with any e-mail program you have.
Depending on the size of your list there is a cost... it's tiered.
aWeber or GetResponse would probably do as well for you. All of them have the unsubscribe situation covered and even track deliverability etc.
Hope that helps!

Hi,
I asked the same question a while back and someone pointed me in the direction of www.supermailer.de
It's very resonable priced, has a 30 day trail period and handles unsubscribe and undelivered mail issues. I've only been using it a few weeks, but so far am very impressed.
Good luck...

Hey! Great Suggestions...
You know one of the things that attracted me to Constant Contact was if you are just starting to build a list, that it's free.
My list started with 0 people. I had the 60 day trial and then until I broke 50 subscribers it was free to use. That really made sense to me. Why dump money into something if you don't even know if anyone would care to sign up!?
So that's a big benefit. You could always import your list into another program if you find something better down the road and as your list builds.
I would love to hear some personal experiences with some of this other software and the features you really like with them. For myself and others future reference...
CC has a lot of different templates to choose from and it's reporting system is nice. I like the fact that I know who clicks on what links in each e-mail I send out, who opens the e-mails... it tracks everything.
I like that I can customize the templates...
Everything in general.
What's your experiences with the ones you use and what sets them apart in your experience?
Thanks for your input in advance!

I use Group Mail (software that runs on my computer), which I've used for about six years now. I can set it to retrieve e-mails from a specific address, so it can automatically handle subscribes and unsubscribes, etc. It has a SMTP server built in, and you can also use your ISP's so it can be set up in different ways depending on how you want to use it. It can handle as many different groups, send html or text messages, can merge names, and other details into the e-mails.
All-in-all a very good program, if you want something that you own and set up on your computer.
Group Mail is through a company called Infacta.com. I've been very happy with them for many years.
Warmly,
Kathryn

noobie mass mailers question
I must be missing something here.
It seems like Gen1 is asking for an email server program that will allow him to spoof his sender and return email address while not alerting his ISP to the fact that he's even sending out email. Is that right? ("I am looking for a proggy... that will act as a server", "sending out email-bypassing my isp alltogether and allowing me to make up the sender and return email address")
What would be the point of that I wonder and how is this different from spamming?

Ahhh... I missed that. Well, all things can be used for good and evil I guess. I always assume good intentions of someone first before I know their intentions...
btw, Welcome to WPW bbull!

sender E-mail
I use Constant Contact (and like it) and they require you to use a real E-mail address for your "from" and "reply to" addresses. You have to reply to a confirmation message sent to the addresses you want to use. Unless a person has something to hide, that requirement shouldn't be a problem.
