Hi David,
I believe that I contacted you a bit back and you told me I needed to get some keyword in my site before you'd take a look at it. Well I have since done that and had a little redesign.
Here it is: www.clearlime.com
Whats the next step?
Chris.

Chris, I said get keywords, yes - but only use them twice. You have 'web design' every where and not in meta keywords but in meta description. Wrong place.
Use this free tool on the site www.sitereportcard.com
You are aiming for a 8 or above.

David,
I have changed my homepage meta tags, are these more appropriate? I initially based the meta tags on a competitors site.

There is nothing basically wrong with this site - Except for the URL title - it's not related to the search term
Run it by SiteReportCard: Web Site Optimization and Promotion Tools and PM me.

Hi Brian - in order to give a decent report there is something more fundamental to be dealt with first - You have loads of pages. But they are all listed as 'category' use HTML on each page so that it reads as a URL - Take a look around mine at Right to Buy from Council Tenants Advice Bureau (UK) Ltd and see each page has a different keyword

So you have your website, you have worked hard at it, it's getting listed but it is not making the sort of money you had really hoped for. Ring any bells?
I know that when I started my site, I made all of the classic mistakes, I submitted to SE's, I did not know about Directories etc etc. So here is an idea designed to help you make the most out of your website.
I now have over 700 page 1, 2 or 3 listings in all of the major SE's. Our Mortgage book lending stands in the 100's of millions over the last few years, we do not advertise. People find our website by natural searches. We do not use PPC.
The first simple rule for new posters is to make sure that your URL is listed in your profile, that way as the spiders weave their way through all of the posts here they will find your site and spider it.
Check your backlinks are good or it will throw the spiders off course. 2 choices SiteReportCard: Web Site Optimization and Promotion Tools or the more sophisticated but also free Find broken links on your site with Xenu's Link Sleuth (TM)
You may think you have the best site on the planet, but in this forum, you will have a bonus free package. I'm going to e mail you your top ten competitors websites free of charge for your given first keywords I find in your search.
I then want you to visit those websites and see what your competitors are doing that maybe you have not thought of. I will show you how to track the Directories they are listed in and how to follow their suit.
We will discuss content, news updates, tips and everything that you are likely to need to succeed, because if you succeed, this forum succeeds. The intention is clear, we want to demonstrate that we can create the best marketing forum on the planet. So after reading this, I want you ll to start talking, inviting friends over to visit. Spread the word, this could be great, but it takes two to tango, OK? David
The New update means that you can now see posters e-mail addresses by holding your cursor over (email) the address will apppear on the bottom of your browser. So No e-mail addresses please.

Car Insurance Phoenix Thanks for the information. This weekend I can't wait to put some of this to use.

Re: Markets and how your website can open them
xenu's link sleuth is fantastic, its a great way to manage not only links but other pages you might be sharing with other marketing gurus....I have done this in the past with lots of great success.
but doing just that will not make your site more profitable, there is lots of vague skeptisism out there. You have to capture a market the right way, i have found that no matter what you niche the people what you to make them take notice like the "deer in the headlight" approach. You gotta capsulate them in from the start. Thats the easy way to run businesses from the start. It multifaced but there are lots of way you can succeed online and offline....the first comes from learning and finding a mentor....or someone that you can model yourself after.
cheers

Yes it does - but I suggest you run your site by SiteReportCard: Web Site Optimization and Promotion Tools and do as suggested there. Then we can take a more detailed look.
