The report looked great. I've taken a few of the suggestions, and hope to see some positive changes. Thanks for the prompt response and complete report.

I look forward to your response!

Thanks ctabuk,

I’ve used ibp for over a year but haven’t renewed it for a couple of months so my index is slightly out of date.

I have a question though The thing about tools is no matter how good they are it’s the person using them that counts.

Eg. Give me a hammer, chisel and a huge stone and you’ll get a piece of stone with lumps knocked out of it - not a sculpture ><

One thing I’m unsure of is “powered by people” tag line, I think it’s catchy and descriptive but “powered” “people” and “powered by people” are not what I think people generally search for.

So in your opinion what would you say my keywords are/should be for my site?

Ideally my listing would start something like this:

VotedTop Website Charts
VotedTop Website Charts- Where you decide what the best websites are,
with one click instant voting – You have the Power to make this
the best place to find the top web sites
www.votedtop.com/

VotedTop Business Website Charts
Business websites Voted Top with our ‘One Click’ voting system.
Find the Best Business web sites chosen by the public Not a paid editor.
www.votedtop.com/category/Business

VotedTop Games Website Charts
Games websites Voted Top with our ‘One Click’ voting system.
Find the Best Games web sites chosen by the public Not a paid editor.
www.votedtop.com/category/Games

VotedTop Shopping Website Charts
Shopping websites Voted Top with our ‘One Click’ voting system.
Find the Best Shopping web sites chosen by the public Not a paid editor.
www.votedtop.com/category/Shopping

So when people search for “Best Business site” or “top game site” or “best websites” “business web sites” I would be in the list.

Or have I got the key words/phrases wrong what do you think? Do I need to change something?

I’ve only been going a week or so perhaps I’m jumping the gun?

Any advice is greatly appreciated mate.

PS I live just across the river from you in Snaith south of Selby !!

Not easy to reply on, you can only use the expression 'Best Websites' so often. I suppose if you created different pages for Best Motor Websites etc etc and optimised each one on it's own that could help. You need links, but I guess you know that. Yes, that is IBL 9 the very latest system, it's a good indicator and it's helped a few people here.

I've got IBP 8 but I much prefer IBP 4 its sort of to the point and simpler.

thanks for the help though. do you always you submit your websites using the semi-auto option?

or do you do it manually? or not at all?

Never ever use it for site submission, I rely on the forum posts to get me indexed.

Dave,
I have a question. Probably obvious to everyone bu to me. Is there a difference between running the Xenu program and the reports that you've been sending everyone?

...running Xenu as I write :).

Xenu is an excellent link checker, with the only problem that he does not recognize internal links when you are using an "id".

Darn, my post went to la-la-land :(!!!

Ok, well, I was saying to John that I do not understand the "id" comment. Remember, newbie here :). I was running that Xenu on the upholstery site I volunteer on (sure takes a while) when my PC froze. But today I got my new laptop, so I will run it again soon. So far, it's just shown me how much my friendly webmaster and I are both packrats :)).

David,
This is an amazing report! Wow, even the "optional" are great suggestions! I just looked through it pretty fast, as I'm in the middle of setting up my new laptop, but I will definitely learn and gain plenty from that second reading! Thank you so much!
