Excuse me Mr. Moderator:

You using the top 10 analyzer on IBP for those?

I finally did my own hobby sites, since I never have time for me :D

Only thing I learned is I need to be in DMOZ to be page one apparently, as all 10 ahead of us for the major terms are in the DMOZ, everything else was right on target according to the report.

Not to hijack you thread, but the Editor who included this top ranking site in the DMOZ
renttoownrealestate.com

Is probally the same name that is on the WHOIS information as owning it.

That may be the spammiest doorway page I have ever seen. The word homes appears 791 times on that page.
And phenomenal content like

Code:
in the vicinity of, close to, north, east, south, southern, northern, eastern, west, western, midwest, central abaco abilene, acapulco, ak al alabama albany, alberta albuquerque, amarillo, amsterdam, anaheim, anchorage, angeles, anguilla annapolis, antigua antilles antonio, antwerp, ar area, arizona aruba asheville, aspen, athens, atlanta, atlantic augustine,
- End rant

Hoptoo, yes the top ten, and I agree, some of the results are simply amazing, I have seen one site top on big G with its keywords repeated 50 times. But it did sod all in Yahoo. Lesson, do not optimise for one SE, go for page titles. Hoptoo, I need a hand in SEO Announcement LOL

Yes, title is getting more weight than many seem to think. Something else I've experienced is to ensure that the <title> is the FIRST element after <head> ... seems to be helping loads compared to any other single tweak method to date for me ...

Default great service!

Hello ctabuk,

Like all the others already mentioned, great service!
Been reading here for 2 years, and think I learned a lot, so thank you all for this great forum.

Dont like to ask if I cant give back, but this time I just couldnt resist.

Could you also take a look at my website?
(only if you have time for it)
Been working on it for a year and a half now.
This is it: www.amsterdamcentralbedandbreakfast.nl

(main keywords: amsterdam, bed, breakfast, apartment)

Made it myself and it is also my only way of promoting my business, so completely depending on it. At the same time this website is the first I ever made, and for the SEO in there, I learned everything here, curious where it got me sofar :-)

(my email address can be found on the site, as I can not post it here)

Thanks a lot, in advance!
Mark.

Default My New Site

Hi:

I'm new to this forum and thought it would be good to take you up on your offer.

I'm working on a new site for sales reps. My vision is to create a sales rep community that offers support, advice, tools, communication, etc., to help sales people become more successful. It's in the infancy stage right now and there's not much content in it. I've been working on layout and the back administration of how it all works.

I am especially interested in any advice that would keep me from building something that doesn't work or that would keep the site from being indexed or banned.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

I'm looking forward to your replies.

Hi, I'm a newbie. Been reading all the different threads posted, this one is great. This is a very generous offer and a great service to people like me.
Please check out my site for me
http://www.gleearchitects.com.
I did it myself for my own business. I only know how to use notepad for the html coding and use no other software.
I appreciate any advice you can give me. Google shows no back links but MSN and Yahoo do. The only way my web site shows up on Google using my keywords is through directories linking to me. There are tons of architecure firms out there (older and more established) and so it's difficult to even show up. Oh, my web site went up around March.
Thanks in advance.

Dear ctabuk:

I would really love to have your thoughts and suggestions about my web site (here) as I'm competing with difficult keywords.

I'd already worked meta tags and titles a bit (Premium template section and 2/3 more pages) after to some excelent suggestions from wrmineo.

I don't know much about SEO, but I'm trying to put in practice what I do know. At this point I wanted to have the maximum opinions and suggestions possible and reading along this thread from the start it's visible you're one of guys who know more about the subject.

Thanks in advance

Dear CTABUK

I would like you to have a look at yet another website. That's my first one www.romanticadultgifts.com and I would like to hear/read your findings/recommendations.

I am an absolute novice, though I have done a lots of reading about SEO/SEM, and starting now to optimise my site (working on links in/out-bound).

Thanks for taking the time

My oh my mate, you are fast!! While I was giving someone here on the forum 'good advise' about his website, you quickly checked out mine. I will read your report over dinner.

There is only one thing: Since I am using American Drop Shippers, my target market and competitors are actually in the US. I would say high shipping costs will put off Australians from buying from my site.

I have already started to 'analyze' who are my US competitors and what they do and what I need to do to out-rank them. Its that easy, isn't it :-) LOL.

But what isn't easy is: Check out your competitors sites and follow their links by doing this "theirsite" No www and no .com Could you give me an example pleeeaaase :-)

Thanks so much again for your help. Will be in touch.

Cheers Jutta

No worries. Use any SE search box and do this.Mine is "counciltenantsmortgages" Now that will show Forum postings and it will list my Directory postings. You can use the same formula on any SE. Once you know where your competitors have got their links then submit your site there as well. The rest is as easy as (well 2 or 3 months, years or whatever!) pie

Ctabuk,
Thanks for the report.
I have done some work already and moved my scripts off the page. I was wondering why it could not detect my body text which is on the page. My html coding or something?
I have cleaned up some of the keywords. Do all my keywords have to exist on that page or can they be within the content of all the pages on my site? or shoud each page get their own keywords? Sorry, I'm a rank amateur when it comes to this.
I think I have more back links/ directories pointing to me than the 74 listed. But then google does give me a big fat zero. I have submitted to DMOZ a couple of times but they don't seem to want to list me. Any advice there? Or is that another thread?
Thanks again.

Hello CTABUK,

Thank you very much for the detailed report.
My site wasnt even that bad (according to the report, but it isnt on the first page in google though) :-)

Most important things I noticed (just to share, wondering if my conclusions agree with others who are working on this):
1. The page title seems to be important.
As the search term "amsterdam bed and breakfast" is used mostly to find my (and my competitors') websites I have changed the title of the main page from "Amsterdam Central Bed and Breakfast" to "Amsterdam Bed and Breakfast". I thought it didnt matter if there was the word "central" in between, as long as the search words are in the title, but loosing the "central" brings the other words more to the beginning of the title and this is important (?)

2. Keywords and description do not seem to play a big role
Dumped a lot of keywords though as I had them in 4 languages, but the site is only in english.

3. The <h1> and <h2> texts do not seem to have a lot of effect.
changed them according to recommendations, to see the real effects.

Couple of questions:

1. How long does it take to see the effects of changes to the website in the google rankings?
Is this days/weeks or months?

2. If you keep on changing the website pages (for instance the title), does the ranking change accordingly all the time, or would google notice this frequently changing as some sort of spamming?

3. What are the conclusions of others? anyone implemented changes as recommended in the reports, and if so, any effects yet? :-)

Changed only some minor things (title, keywords, h1 and h2 headings ), very curious if this will change my rankings (and in which direction!)
I will let you know as soon as things start to move :-)

Thanks again.
Mark.

Hi there,
newbie to the site, but i must say its so full of info my head is spinning.

I have a site www.principalmarketing.co.uk which help sell our insurance products and our latest one
Pet Guard. Cheap, works well, ideal for animal lovers - but only 3 sales in a month!

I need some advice please on marketing this.

I'm paying a fortune on pay-per-click without getting the sales i would have expected.

Many thanks,
Opel

Mark.

Well, after changing the title and removing some keywords, google changed my ranking for my main keyword from #77 to #12 within 24 hours!

Just to let you know, it can be fast!
(Not sure if it will stick though)

Mark.

I would love to know what a professional thinks of my site:

www.uradj.com

Anything @ the above address will get through to my e-mail.

Now I think you'll say about the title tag, which is what I am working on at the moment (removing the site name).

Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to follow up.
Google is finally showing backlinks. Albeit only 10. But that's better than zero. Not sure if it had anything to do with cleaning up my code or just a matter of time. Page rank for the keywords suggested does not seem to have changed ("architects in San Francisco", Concord CA Architects. No ranking yet in Google.
Not sure how to get the SEs to find all my backlinks. Is that a matter of time? I keep on listing in directories but it seems the backlinks shown on Yahoo is shrinking.
Thanks again for your help.

Hi ctabuk,

You certainly seem to know your stuff so I'd be a fool not to take you up on your offer!

My site: http://www.castleprint.co.uk/ is doing ok as far as sales are concerned, based mainly on my main keyword <business cards uk>. I am sure there is plenty room for improvement but because I've 'lived' it for the past few years I am struggling to see the wood for the trees.

I'm constantly working hard on fresh content and also try to inject a bit of humour http://www.castleprint.co.uk/contacting-us.html which, believe it or not, has made a big difference to converting enquiries into sales!

Look forward to receiving any suggestion on how to improve.

Paul

Thanks ctabuk,

After your report inspiring me to action I have decided to try for the following key phrases.

cheap computer hardware uk,
accessory computer Ireland,
cheap laptop computer uk,
refurbished computer uk

From a piece of software I have these account for 1870 searches per month on Overture UK and have less than 7m sites already posted for each term. Two terms have less than 2m for each term.

I liked the site, but oh boy, the keywords are going to hard to get listed. But, the good news is we are e-mailing and we will get there.

Please all of you, read this and take a mental note.

Getting your site listed is not the sole aim of my doing these reports. I have now seen dozens and dozens and the one thing many of you forget is STOP thinking about how high you are in the SE's the first 3 or 4 pages is great and the more traffic you get, then in theory the higher you will go. BUT make your sites attractive to 'would be customers'- they are your bread and butter. Make a site 'grab you - take you in, make you stop and make you BUY'.
When reading these posts, dive into the sites listed. Look around, give us at WPW your thoughts.
Here's an idea.
Would you buy ? Yes or No Tell us. POST BACK in the forum. Come on! Lets set a record.

Thanks again to ctabuk. I really admire you and the rest who contributed in this forum.

The strategy that you have just pointed out is great.Further to that, I always try to provide more than the customer expected and always practise "organic growth" - I grow together with the customer, the customer will grow together with me.

Cheers.

Hi Chris, well at least you know it needs a jump start. Masses of work required, but NOT on the site, you have no keywords as such so I have done a report based on AIDC Technologies - it is a starting point anyway. So PM me with your e mail address and lets get started

Hi ctabuk,
I appreciate the site keyword analysis that did for my site www.seascotia.com back in August. I have just finished implementing most of the changes in a slightly altered way from what you have recommended. The keywords that you had chosen were Nova Scotia Vacations, Nova, Scotia, Vacations. My change was that I took the “S” off and made it vacation. Do you think that this is a good idea? Why or why not?

Since I have made the changes, when you get a chance would you rerun the analysis and see how I have done?

Thanks for taking the time to help all of us armatures on WebProWorld.
