Default Web Design Sales

I'm not sure what topic to post this in so I'll trust the mods to move it if thay think it would do better somewhere else...

any way...

I'm great at web design and have great proices (My Fiance' and family say they're too low), but I absolutley stink at sales!
I get all nervous and sweaty and want to just run out of the room when talking a prospective client, especially if it's a "cold call". I'm thinking of hiring a part time salesperson and raising my prices.

What would I pay this person? A commission of some sort right? But how much? How many sales per week or month should I ecpect from someone putting in say 20/hours a week?

Is this a really bad idea?

Thanks for helping!

I built a rep without any cold calling whatsoever. I refuse to use that as a form of marketing.

I work at an SEO firm, so I do all the work :) So I know the in's and out's of things. But I also run and work on my own site which has a good reputation for gamers. :)

Greetings!

It is really hard to do the "correct" pricing on web site. It is determined by several factors such as 1) time needed to finish the project, 2)client profile 3)your company reputation and more.

You can probably start by monitoring how much time you really spend on "average" websites. That way you will be able to acquire the skills on estimating the time needed for a certain website project.

The more capable your client can pay, the higher will be your chance to propose a higher budget. For most startups, it is not advisable to propose a very high budget. Just propose something that is acceptable to you and you can live with. You don't have to worry because as you build your portfolio base, many of these clients will bring in new clients through viral marketing.

Your company reputation is built through the years. Always consider all aspects: project delivery, customer support, competitive pricing, etc.

Also, try surfing around for some web design companies and learn on how they price website designs.

We wish you well!

:)

I was surprised at how much longer it took me to do things than I thought it did. I recommend it for all webmasters!
