Offering free email accounts

I run a forum and offer free email accounts to my members. I work with everyone.com. I was wondering if it is worth the price. Does anyone know the real overall value of offering free email accounts. My original thought was the value of spreading my site's name around and advertising on the login page. But now I am starting to wonder. Also if members just forward their accounts to other account they do not login. Any thoughts?
