Our latest European Digital Home report is now live on the main JupiterResearch web site. It's called Portable Music Players: Broadening Appeal to Attract Mainstream Consumers, and it talks about current adoption levels for portable MP3 players in Europe and how companies can compete as these products enter the mainstream.
It's easy to think that Apple's got this market locked up, and they certainly are in an enviable position. But remember that so far it's been mostly early adopters buying these products. As mainstream consumers come to the party, with their different values and habits and perceptions, Apple's competitors have a opportunity to make up some ground. So for the competitors, it's a question of figuring out what appeals to those mass market consumers and then executing on that knowledge. I think this report can help them do that.
