Suggestions for best marketing methods
I'm about to launch my website Anjole.com, and I'm searching for the best marketing methods to approach. I was thinking about direct mailing to target customers, but I don't know of any company who sells mailing addressess which I can trust. Any suggestions will be welcome.
Thanks.

Re: Suggestions for best marketing methods
You mean like spam?
I wouldn't suggest you do that.

joey101 ... Welcome aboard WPW.
Mailing programs to receptive self declared (opt-in) audiences aren't spam. Many sites are monetized in different ways, including pertinent subject oriented "opt-in" mailing lists, where recipients ask for instructions, ezines and other knowledge.
If you feel this post was "spam" based and want to "PM" me feel free, we do deal with those issues here quite aggressively.
Thanks,
Ken

It depends on who your target market is. Who are you trying to reach?
Direct mail is one way to reach people. A good place to find reliable lists is in DM magazines such as Target Marketing or DM News. If there is a magazine that targets the people you want to reach, they typically will rent their subscriber list.
If the people you want to reach are online, then advertising such as Overture and Google's Adwords can work.
One of the best ways to reach people is to not spend any money at all. I've found press releases to be very effective--if your web site offers a unique and valuable service or product. I've had my press releases published in publications from local newspapers, to national magazines such as U.S. News, Inc. Magazine and Business Week. Or write an article about what you are doing (or your product or service) and offer it for others to publish. Small publications in particular are always looking for articles to publish. Even something in your local paper will usually result in it being placed on the web with the result being your site will gain a good link.
Consider buying an ad in, or writing an article for opt-in email newsletters that target the people you are trying to reach.
I assume you have already listed your web site in every directory that makes sense for what you are doing--including local directories? Are you a member of any trade associations? Be sure they have your URL so they can list it in their directory.
There are tons of ways to get the word out about your web site. It just depends on who you are trying to reach and what your message is.

Anjolee,
For online promotion:
I'd second the idea of using Overture or other pay per click resources. There are a lot of searches done for jewelry on the net.
You've got a ton of pages indexed on Google and MSN, but very few backlinks.
Every directory seems to have lots of jewelry categories in the Shopping category, so that would be a good promotional tool.
Also, you should really update the meta tags on your site, at least the home page that I looked at. Your description is short and could work harder for you. Your keywords contain over 1500 characters, way too big.
In terms of your target audience, I'm not sure how you'd target that for direct mail. I'd check into wedding shows. Are there wedding ring vendors that attend those, or do people usually have the ring already by that time?
Let us know what you think!
Kathleen

Email marketing
I can't speak for everyone else but personally, I trash almost all e-mail unless it has "Link Exchange"
or I no the person.
I know alot of people do it as I recieve about 200 e-mail a day on 4 different e-mail accounts and only read about 10 - 15 of them.
I would suggest link exchanges, ad sites, pay per click, site optimization.

email marketing
I have approached BuyerZone.com - Mailing List Brokers. One of their vendors Estrela Marketing Solutions offer either mailing/email lists for any targeted consumers. I'm still very skeptic. Since there are so many jewelry on the internet, and unless they know and look for you its very hard to get people to opt-in to your site.

more targeted key words
I would imagine that keywords like diamond jewelry would be hard to optimize for, very competitive, since the jewelry on your site is pricey and you offer european designs i would suggust putting in some more specific keywords like: fine, italian, haute
you can use wordtracker.com to find good niche keywords
