I have been happy with www.prnewswire.com.
I have never used anyone else, so I can't say how they compare to others. |

SportsFan, maybe you could answer a couple of questions about PR Newswire?
I tried to check out their service, but the section on uploading press releases says that you have to become a member. Basically they want you to send them an email with your contact information and a good time to call, and they’ll call you back with pricing information. I also looked at the membership application and it’s four pages and they require credit references. I was really looking for a service to issue this one press release. There’s always a chance I might need to do this again at some point in the future, but clearly I don’t issue many press releases, and PR Newswire looks like it might be a bit much for my needs. Does my impression match your experience with this company? And if anyone else has suggestions for other companies, I’d love to hear them! |

I use PR Web as my main one. There service is good. They offer different pricing (contribution) levels. If it is a major press release or one I want to use as part of an SEO campaign then I go with the $200 contribution so I can include hyperlinks and images. Lower level press releases I usually use the $30 contribution.
Others I have researched: PR Web – www.prweb.com PR Newswire – www.prnewswire.com PR Leap – www.prleap.com EMediaWire – www.emediawire.com (Part of PR Web) BusinessWire – www.businesswire.com MarketWire – www.marketwire.com EWorldWire – www.eworldwire.com |

Can you give me an idea how many backlinks you get if you go with the $200 level? On the PR Web site they talk about being optimized for the search engines, but I'm wondering how many links to expect, and how long they last - do they all disapear in a month? |

I use PR Web a lot, usually paying at the $30 level which has resulted in the story being picked up by search engines really well. The Google links appear in the Search Web rather than the News part of Google and they seem to last forever. Prior to Christmas 2 years ago I put out a release about the free online crossword puzzle we were giving as a gift to our visitors and if you search on the words financial and crossword, or similar, the story still comes up.
The 2 big news release services are PR Newswire and Businesswire. They both charge an annual fee as well as a per-release fee. A distant 3rd is MarketWire (formerly Internet Wire). However, it is starting to give the 2 major players some real competition. It does NOT charge an annual fee. Also it has become a "NASDAQ Preferred Partner" or some such designation and is really going for the financial press release business. When looking for a release distribution you should also compare various services' specialized coverage of your industry or your interest area. |

Per toroandbruin - I agree, the keywords stay on Google for a very long time. |

I've had good success with both PR Web and BusinessWire.
Both gave good distribution, inlcuding being picked up by SEs. The difference was $165 for BW and $30 for PRWeb. If you are looking for international distribution, then I would suggest BW. Call them and have a conversation with one of their reps about what you need exactly and they can send you the appropriate rate card. I hear PR Newswire is good too, but I can't reccommend htem since I don't use them. Also, you should have an internal media list for your company or clients. Start building relationships with publications that target your audience. It takes some time, but it's very fruitfull in the long run. It shouldn't replace your Wire releases, simply compliment them. Good luck. |
