I need your ideas?
Soon I'm going to wing a new site. I've registered a good domain. A long one but incorporating 3 main keywords .com and I think it is fair good brand name (long term). Now I'm sitting here and brainstorming. I want it to be complementing my current site (sig, yet it's not what I want it to be). Not duplicating and not just another airfares affiliate site(like 90% of my competitors are). I'm serious about this business. I want to provide useful content and I'm going to hire profesional copywriters, and designers to provide everything for best user experience. I need ideas about contet you expect to find when you're going to book tickets online. What information do you need? Here I'm not targeting '#1 result sales'. I have a perfect booking engine, but what is beside the fares? What are you looking for when you are booking plane ticket? Brand, information, articles, news, forum discusions, price, anything? I need all your thoughts. The URL is AirlinesFlightsFares.com and I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Maybe news about new routes, airline companies, flight reviews from customers and perhaps info affecting fairs, like newlanfing fees ad the implications these have for the consumer.
If you do need designers or content writers let me know, I own www.JKomp.com, I wrote most the articles at www.webdesignarticles.info and i have experience in the field coming from an aviation background and designing and writing content for www.acflying.com

News, I'll need original information but it's not an easy thing to do. Customers reviews sounds great. Of course if you can get the customers to write reviews. :)

1. Map-based destination selector. Click on cites for a quote, and when quaotes come back, routes are drawn on map. Many airlines think nothing of attracting fares to fill lightly loaded by very circuitous routes and many propective clientd sre geographically clueless.
2. Direct link to Timatic (or similar service) that would allow propective purchasers to review passport and visa requirements.
Hope this gives you a few ideas,

Useful features
Hi I travel by Air quite a bit,
when we look to fly, we always want to be able to find the cheepest flight, and we want the shortest flight times. So if you are going to show a list of available flights, you need to allow the user to sort the results by what is important to them. Setting a drop down list at the top called "sort Results by..." Then have Price lowest first, price highest first, travel time longest first, travel time shortest first, Airport departing from, Flights by Airline, departure time, arival time.
Also very useful is when you can tick a box before doing the search to also show the details for flights 1 or 2 days either side of the chosen date.
Also if you plan to offer web specials, an option allowing the user to show only "Web Specials" with in their chosen dates would be very useful and popular.
Another useful option would be to find all flights within the chosen dates up to the users specified price.
These are few of the most useful features for searching air flights.
Hope they help.
Warm Regards,
Joe
P.S will this be a US or a UK based site?

Thanks for the support. I'll consider it all. Yet there are things that only the big companies can afford. But I'm a believer that there are small things that matter. And thats why I started this thread.

US and international. I'm targeting worldwide audience but the US market is the most perspective one nowdays. In future I intend to have UK and EU sections. This is concerning more promotion rather booking. The engine suports worldwide options but the truth is that less than 10% of the sales come from UK. And I have to be realistic about this.
Thanks to all who responded (and Gregse).
Regards,
Martin
