What is Overture and how do you get listed and ranked? Will be grateful for any info.

Overture provide a PPC (pay per click) method to improve the Search Engine visibility of your website.
If you have sufficient cash, then you will be ranked for whatever keywords you suggest! :o)

Overture PPC, firstly set up your own ppc campaign, don't bother with agencies. First step, go to the SITE SUBMISSION page here at WPW, run your site through all the tests and make sure it is user friendly. Run your keywords through your head, over and over again. When you are certain that you have it right set up the account, if you experience problems phone them whilst doing it, in the UK it's 0800 169 9740. Compare your bids by doing a search on Overture for your main keyword - go to the top of the page where it say's 'view highest bidder'see what they are paying. Then put www.statcounter.com on your site, immportant, choose a very hard password, it is possible to site hack through a counter. This will stop your competitors from spamming your site, Overture are very helpful on that. Use a credit card that gives you loads of time, I use amex and I get 2 months free adds. Do NOT go down the 'make me top' routine, stay in the top ten, check your listings once a day, I've known my site suddenly go top from 6th as my competitors have all dropped their bids! Any other help just let me know. Don't rely purely on PPC follow all the tips on these fantastic pages. Good luck

I think an important detail you need to know about Overture is that it is the service provider for the sponsor listings in Yahoo.

Anyway, I got visitors from them but with poor results related to sales, so I personally do not use their services anymore, and I am now trying AdWords that is the PPC service of Google.

My friend used them and he did not have any luck, he says adwords is 10 times better

Seaweed, add your signature to your posts via your profile, if you are in the UK you stand more chance of hits via Overture than Google, stats show that whereas Google generates more traffic the sales conversion are lower and the spamming higher.
