I am a believer in long sales copy. The long sales copy I've used on my site has worked much better at converting visitors than the short sales copy. But then I have a higher ticket sales item ($99).
I'm starting to see, though, sales copy that goes beyond the description "long"--ENORMOUS would be a better world, or NEVER-ENDING. Honestly, I -never- read all of that copy and almost always get bored and leave the site. Does this super-ultra-long copy work for anybody?

Two software products I market have super-long sales copy, but I don't use the mega scroll technique seen on some of these newer sales sites.
Like you, I can't get through the first three paragraphs on these pages and I think most surfers are more like me. It is overwhelming bombardment that just creates a "spammy atmosphere". I've got a lot to say about my software products, but I've broken it all down into digestible chucks, under appropriate title bars that you can navigate to directly. I also chop up the pages using "next" and "back" buttons. All the SEM experts say 250-300 words per page, I think that there is truth in that. |

I'm beginning to agree that breaking the sales copy down into various pages is a good idea. Perhaps the BEST reasons followed with an "order now" link for those who are sold and a "get more info" link for those who want more details.
