Default How much traffic justifies selling banner ads

Roughly how much monthly traffic does a website have to achieve in order to sell banner advertising? And I don't mean just setting up an offer in the site, but actually approaching leading players in an industry and selling them banner advertising.

It depends on your niche and how much you hope to make from the ads, but 1,000 unique visitors/day seems to be a good starting point.

Yes, definitely depends on your niche.

I run a site http://www.uk-jive.co.uk which is very specialised.

The site now attracts around 30,000 visits / month and my banner sales are going really well.

Mind you, it's taken over 3 years to built the popularity.

My site is an Australian based adventure directory (http://www.breakloose.com.au) and I just reached the 1,000 unique visitors a day goal. Your comments are very helpful. Cheers.
