Default Starting from "0" in email marketing

I am interested in using email marketing to advertise my website.
I have one little problem.
I don't have the slightest idea what I'm doing!!!

How do I get the email lists?

How do I send them once I have them?

What about the design of the email I send?

Hi!
I have listed in my Site a Serie of Letters about E-mail marketing (see topic Nr. 2)

I have learned a lot from this serie.

Good luck!
Alex

I took also a look to your Website, you may need at least the following:

1) You need either a Pop-up or Input fields allowing the visitor to enter his e-mail address. I.e. you could write something like: "Subscribe to our Newsletter and be informed about special offers!" or something similar. You could offer also something for free or participate on a contest. Here you need some creativity to let the visitor give to you his/her Address. Check my website for examples, you will see that the visitor has three options to enter his address (pop-up, entry fields and free bonuses).

2) You need a service called "autoresponder". An autoresponder collects all e-mail addresses collected unter 1) and start sending a serie of e-mails. Your e-mails should be compliant with the CAN Spam Act of 2003 and include "unsubscribe" information. You can also request a confirmation from your visitor that he really wants to receive information from you. This is called "double-opt in", without confirmation is "Single-opt-in".

The Autoresponder will provide the HTML code you need for 1)

3) In the e-mail series (do not bombard your customers, one e-mail per week is enough) you describe how great your products are and what is the benefit for the customer. Include of course links to your sales pages.

4) If you have special offers, use the "Broadcast" function of your Autoresponder to send single e-mails to your customers. As in 3), do not abuse of this option.

5) In the internet marketing arena, some times we buy subscriptions from "lead providers", but I do not think you need this option.

That is in a Nutshell. Enjoy a long term relationship with your customers and turn visitors to paying customers.

E-mail me if you have any questions.

Best regards,

Alex

Thanks Alex,

Basically,
I get this Autoresponder and follow the instructions and that should do it. Right?

Is it a program or a service?

Default Getting Started

Also, don't fall into the temptation of buying a bulk email list or service and emailing 100K people right off the bat. If it's a service they'll take your money and run. If you do it yourself you'll loose your internet connection in a few hours (ouch!)
