Default Have other sites link to your site

I started this site www.sellink4less.com, which sells compatible ink cartridges, laser toners, and refill kits. My problem that I have is promoting my website. I don't have a lot of money to spend on promoting my site (such as google Ads)Anyone have any advice on inexpensive way to promote, or do any of you like to have our sites link to each other to increase traffic. If you are interested, please email me at andy@sellink4less.com

Thanks,

Directory backlinks are a good place to start. Here are a few of the more prominent directories which have influence on the search engines (the rest you can find various places):

www.dmoz.org
www.joeant.com
www.looksmart.com

You can also write articles and give them away for free in exchange for the backlink. This provides a pretty steep traffic increase in a relatively short period of time.

Trade links with others. I'm personally not crazy about this method, since I don't like the idea of giving away anything to outbound links if I can avoid it, but it can work.

Forum posts with your URL in the signature (such as my sig) will help on most engines not named Google. Google, the impact seems to be minimal, but others such as MSN seem to like them.

That should get you started in the right direction.

Directories are good, but you'll get ranked higher, faster with a well-planned, well performed reciprocal linking campaign.

After you have a few hundred links in to your site, you'll rank well enough to start getting non-reciprocal links if your content is good enough.

Reciprocal linking is much maligned, but I can tell you that it has been (and continues to be) very good to me.

Default Looksmart

I've read several times to stay away from Looksmart.
Just watch out. I cancelled my account with them after reading bad comments one too many times on their job ethics.
Thought I'd pass it on.
If i'm wrong, please let me know.

Default http://www.sellink4less.com/store/customer/home.php

Hi,
I am after search engines since a few years , I must say that there are a couple things that I do not understand on your site implementation :
1) why such a long address www.sellink4less.com/store/customer/home.php , apparently there is no htm or html answer on first level of your address ...try a search with my domain in Google www.ics-php.com and try a search with yours www.sellink4less.com [...just type the domain address without http:// ] you will see some difference
2) I peeped into the source code of your homepage output [the long address string] revise the quantity of meta-keywords and set much less and single words separated by a comma.

Have a look in my webpage http://www.ics-php.com/ev/marketing.htm , I sell a quite different untangible product , but who knows you may get some useful hint.

Every now and then submit some page to Search engines.

You could set your presentations , faqs , tip & tricks etc at least on a upper level and submit those pages to Search Engines

You could then start blogging , I suggest you http://www.blogger.com/start [...owned by Google] and submit as soon as you have a bit of material ready. Submission takes a couple of months by Google but it's free and works out.

If you think it's useful you can register and sign my Guestbook for free and link and describe your website and with same data you can post in my forums @ ics and create other links to your website.

Hope I gave you some useful tip,
Vittorio

Why don't you write articles about your sites topic and then add one or two of your sites links into ther authors bio resource box at the bottom of the article.

Once you have done that you could then submit it to free reprintable articles so other webmasters can then see your article and then add it to their websites.

There are many free reprintable article directories out there where you can submit articles and also use their articles on your own site.

One of them is: http://www.simplysearch4it.com/article/articledir.php

I hope that this helps you.

Hello

You might also want to use my own (free) web marketing collection (collected on my quest for http://energyray.com self-promotion):
1) You might want to submit your site to directories - http://www.energyray.com/SortedPages...ssion.URLs.htm
2) Also submit to more search engines - http://www.energyray.com/SortedPages...ssion.URLs.htm
3) Do links exchange - http://www.links.energyray.com/directory

Regards,
Alex :)

P.S. Please PM me with any new ideas or new links..
