Where to advertise my study abroad site?

Hi, I'm looking for some ideas from some advertising guru's. Is that you?

I manage a site that provides study-abroad information to students. Basically it is a collection of universities and colleges.

We run specific promotions on a regular basis for individual universities. Usually they want to target one or more countries.

For example, at the moment I am promoting a Canadian university. Their target is Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Japan, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Turkey

I do a combination of things but am on the look-out for new ideas.

Anyone know of good places to adverties or strategies that work?

I would promote it the same way you would any other website. People in Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Japan, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Turkey use search engines just as much as you and I do.

I would also identify the appropriate local web portals in these countries, as well, and do some advertising on those sites. Keep in mind, though, that since you're advertising the program in other countries, you may want to make sure it's in their language.

I tried to reply to this before, but apparantly accidentally started a new topic... here's what I said...

I would search for the countries publications and write articles and/or advertise. I would also target some of their universities/colleges and see if they have some sort of student newspaper. Maybe you could swap some online advertisements with the the website. Maybe you can coordinate something with some of the local students over there to pass out flyers. I'd call the International Study Abroad offices and see what they can offer you - do you work in conjunction with them or do you want to get around working with them? Maybe search for travel or study abroad forums and post in there. Have you thought about creating a blog? Definately get as high as you can in the search engines for "study abroad" and similar terms (SEO, SEO, SEO). Let me think maybe I can come up with something out of the ordinary. What are you currently doing as far as marketing/advertising?

I love this topic since I studied abroad in Budapest, Hungary in 1998.
