New search engine looking for links
Hi,
Our new search engine, www.lookbelow.com has launched a free site submission service which will list sites that link to us and rank sites ONLY by reciprocal linking (other than sponsored links). This is using very simple cgi technology
We do not run, or intend to run a links page, and would suggest sites serious about being a link partner and shown on our site should use this service.
the site is currently UK biased but we are in the process of building US, German and French focused sites.
regards

do you really expect the search engine to go anywhere if it only uses sites that link to it?
don't want to sound rude or anything, just wondering...

University auctions listed above has a total of 27 items for sale, 0 bids on any single item, no categorisation of auctions, and a poor page rank. Everybody has to begin somewhere jtoth as you are well finding out.

Think Matt means:
"submit your site to our search enging, and if possible, kindly add a link back to our site"
or something like that.

Linking
Hi,
I think anybody who used the site would see we have plently of results, therefore the linking database is more for the future. The site only has a google 3 rating but hopefully this will improve.
Re Linking, we could have just said submit your site and recieved the same number of listings, however we are hoping in time to reward sites that support us.
At the end of the day who had heard of Google or Ask Jeeves in 1996?

I'm in the same position as you Matt, so I know how hard it is...... Take the ''digs'' with a pinch of salt, as us English say :)

Oh, I'm offering a link (6 maximum) on my index page (PR4), so if you like, we could exchange, as our sites are fairly relevant to each other (I'd like a return link on your home page tho).. Sound fair?
PM if interested.

Links
Peter,
It seems to me we would be better of partnering not linking.
I have thought long and hard how I could link to you specifically from my index page but all I can see is floodgates.
I have kept my site clear and simple and intend to continue to do so. As I will be launching US and german site in next week or two and then employing a couple of designers need to maintain independence. However your site has quite a few neat additions and I would be keen to chat, on or offline.
best of luck and thanks for your kind input.

Hi
Pedster and Mathew, why dont you combine your efforts and write a quick script that will enable you to produce results from each others database. Surely the linking of scripts would invariably lead search engines with capabillity of indexing dynamic URL's, treating you as having increased content worth.

Would Google still pick it up though, seeing youre using a script to redirect to the sites?
Just a thought..
edit: sorry, I meant on the community homepage only.

Hi pedster
I think you may have mis interprited my meaning. If yourself and mathew exchanged each others table structures you should both be able to come up with a script that will draw results from each others databases and display results on your own pages. No need to exchange any passwords or usernames so long as you both put in place a script to connect to the database on your sites. All you then need to do is link your script to the connection on each others site and results should be displayed accordingly on your own seperate pages.

Hi mathew
Can I ask which engine you use for your results, and also I submitted a site about a week ago that I am unable to find in directory listings. Upon a re-submission the script verifies that the details are in the database though. It may also be a good idea to put a more promenant link to the directory on the engine page as the only way I found to your directory from your posted URL was via the copyright link in the footer. Just a thought, I'm not digging.

The results must be pulled from an overture related service. My site is a local community site for a bitty place in the middle of nowhere. I typed in the name and pulled a string of results for small tatty static sites in our locallity designed by upload and leave em types that got registered before paid inclusion. No way these designers are in touch with latest sites on the net. Im assuming the listing is for the directory only.

Search Results
Boy, it does not take long before people start turning from supportive to suspicious.
Let me explain, my site currently metasearches a high number of engines and gives, as the UK goes, pretty good results (in time this will be global).
I have installed a link based directory on my site to start harvesting results and I can manually add results to my database (and determine their position).
However as made perfectly clear the intention is to reward sites that provide hits to my site. Below is the actual results to date, 5 hits to my site of which 3 are from the same IP that listed the result!!
In Out Site
2 0 Maxime proverbe cugetari teste psihologice (Possible Cheater)
1 0 Braking news - leamington fc's leading independent (Possible Cheater)
1 0 New edge computers - birmingham computer repairs
1 0 Society brides homepage
0 0 I want a vehicle
0 0 Clickfire web design
0 0 Untitled document
0 0 Template
0 0 Major web design - professional websites for any b
0 0 Jumpstartpro - florida website design, flash multi (Possible Cheater)
0 0 ★★★★★ aaron's rain b (Possible Cheater)
0 0 Wolfpack paintball team of neenah wisconsin (Possible Cheater)
0 0 Free live f1 (Possible Cheater)
0 0 Epworth online. homepage for epworth, north lincol
0 0 Pedsters planet - website directory with a keyword (Possible Cheater)
0 0 Extradollar - a blog of beuty (booty) (Possible Cheater)
0 0 Uk job and cv directory (Possible Cheater)
Let us be clear when people start playing by the rules set so will I.
I think the concept of linked search is unique and suspect it will take years before fully running but believe me the sites that support me now will be rewarded the most.
I have visited all sites listed and will ensure quality as well as REAL hits are rewarded. In the interim I am not ashamed to confirm I am trying to make money.
having today secured 2 new investors I expect my site to increase its numbers of regular searches and would love for this community to be amongst supporters.
Therefore either support, have constructive criticism or shut up
best of regards

Hi Mathew
Long response. When do we get listed matey? No body's knocking you for trying to make. the internet is full of people wishing to become the next millionaire, but I dare say over 90% are complete space cakes without a hope in hell and want everything given or scripted for free.
We were just wondering how after a week still no listing appears from manual submission, but every other site that has not submitted gets a listing?
Good Luck with it

Hi Mathew,
Can you please tell me how i become a Possible Cheater just by submiting to your search engine ?
Even worst, why the fact that i linked from my very new site (not a lot of trafic, what can i do) made me a cheater ? maybe the fact that there are about 3 hits from my site that all made by me ? have you heard of checking the links ? it is not like you are paying for clicks.
The fact that now, when people will search for my site, they will find this post is annoying even more.
thank you very much.

I have added both Pedsters Planet as Subject Directory and LOOKbelow as Search Engine on this page:
http://www.andilinks.com/sea.htm
Links back are optional.
This page seems popular with people wanting to submit to multiple engines/directories, it is the most complete list that * I* can find, please inform me of others...

Firstly, thanks for the links Andi. i will see what I can do to reciprocate.
Tal, I certainly have not called you a cheater and apologise totally if that was implied in any way, that was a screendump from my admin area, the script simply warns me of potential cheaters.
All I was showing was that it was harsh to expect instant results when I had only just launched site and listing system and received very few sites or hits.
Of course I am grateful for any and all links and hits and for those who have linked you should start seeing your sites soon. However I use other results to supplement results so in the early stages so please be paitent.
regards and thanks to supporters
