Traffic problems
I'm still attempting to get traffic to my site Growing Matters Garden Project but having little success. With link exchanges and directory/search engine listings, I'm only receiving, at the most, 8 visitors per day.
One thing that worked recently was submitting to a gardening message board. It was only when I posted specifically about my site that I got better results. This included some returning visitors which I don't normally get.
While this was good for a couple of days it soon slumped back afterwards.
I could do with more returning visitors as, when I eventually start selling on site, it might hopefully lead to sales.
As well as getting more first time visitors, what can I do to guarantee that people come back?

Marketing a site is a nonstop process. Post to that board daily, and find others to post to. Write articles for ezines and print publicatins, give talks to local groups, etc. Market everywhere you can every day.
Have Fun,

What you need to do is set up a message board yourself and redirect the traffic from the board you are visting to your own forum. Of course it wouldn't happen overnight, it will take time to establish your reputation on a forum, any forum. Don't just go there and spam the board with your business, becuase it will get you banned.

Frames are hurting you
It looks like your site is created with frames througout. Although Google has been known to jump frames it doesn't appear to be in your case. Put your url into Google's search box and you will see how your site is indexed. Here is how Google sees your site:
FRAME: bannerframe
Growing Matters
http://growingmatters.co.uk/
Here is your Google description:
Growing Matters
Growing Matters http://growingmatters.co.uk/.

Indeed, it looks like you're using frame redirection to bay-online.co.uk/growingmatters/ . To maximize hits from search engines, it would be best to get domain hosting.

Of course, see;
<HTML><HEAD>
<META NAME="description" content=" ">
<META NAME="keywords" content=" ">
<TITLE>Growing Matters</TITLE>
</HEAD>
<FRAMESET ROWS="100%,*" BORDER="0" FRAMEBORDER="0">
<FRAME SRC="http://www.bay-online.co.uk/growingmatters/" SCROLLING="AUTO" NAME="bannerframe" NORESIZE>
</FRAMESET>
<NOFRAMES>
Growing Matters
<DIV ALIGN="CENTER"> http://growingmatters.co.uk/</DIV>
</NOFRAMES>
</HTML>
and yes, get at godaddy.com a domain for 7 bucks and hosting starts as little ar 3-4 bucks a month! I think this is affordable! and also link partners more gladly will link with solid page than with some dash/ dash/ dash subdomain co uk; )))
get good com domain not the co.uk (com still is the top domain extension!)
put revelant keywords in title if you can : )
build page simple HTML
so it is small, loads fast, content rich and google can love it! : )
Btw guys, when you put AdSense on the page, don't you know, how these google spider visits can affect page indexing (seems google quite offen indexes adSense placed sites).
Ok, cheers!

And some more - well, your site seems could have hunderds and hundreds of pages!!!
I just can't imagine how much things you could make about the subject!!! awesome opportunity!!!
First of all: in tips and tricks area there was only one idea!! there could be tens if not even hundreds of short, 100-300 word pages that have lot of keywords.
Second: flower descriptions! I saw in photos a high variety of them! If you would make a flower dictionary, wouldn't you get even more trafic to your site? If you would describe each of the flower type you have, you could rank quite easy in 100 to 500 more pages of short but very efective and visitors attractive pages! You could split them in categories, like : roses and then have sub categories, Red Roses, White Roses, Wild roses and so on. A little phot with ALT tags and few sentences about them ; )
Third: about gardnering, like flowerbeds, tips how to build them, how to better care, how to water and so on
Forth: flower accessories - like flower pots, lastic, iron, wooden and so on, for which flowers ones is good, and for which the others, what colors is more revelant to red roses, and so on, plus a gain all types you have, colors and so on, eacho one could be a page. And what's even more, all these pages could be crosslinked say with other 5 to 10 pages, so you could have so HUGE garden site!!
Fifth: affiliate stuff - with this i meant, if you sell only plants, you could affiliate with sites who sells for example mattocks, or unstandard seeds (well, what it is good about seeds, is that they can be easy delivered over the world), gardeners dressing shop and so on. Well, in one year you could have 1000-2000 pages big web site, attracting 4000-5000 visitors a day, and will made you a big bucks.
Sixth: AdSense, you could also build some seperate pages, which definatly would interest your visitors but you can't cover them (like garden furniture or worldwide garden magazines ot smthn), put revelant keywords here and then insert google adsense. So wisitor experience could be continued to other site (don't worry, you will get paid for that).
Seventh: improve your titles for pages and images. Description like this "flowers" simply stinks a big way! Be more descriptive - "red beautiful rose"
And "picnic table with folding seats" could at last improve with description "natural wooden picnic table with folding seats" and so on!!!
About titles - Garden project is okey ;))) but does people lokos for garden projeck or they look for wlowers for garden, roses, garden acessories and so on!!! this all could be in your title and links, linking to your site, becouse a link with description "garden project" would meant to google only "garden" and "project", but "Garden projects - flowers, accessories, tips, pictures, ..." :) google will find lot's of combinations like "garden flowers, garden accessosries, garden pictures, garden tips, accessories, ", and so on!! simply tro to find jeywords that could be combined in normal search terms!! then put it in your titles and links on other sites!!! and you will be a king and will dominate the area ;)))
And add at last one back link a day! it's minimum!
if you will do a one article in every area a day, so in not so far future you will be the owner of flower monoply!!! Go for that and make it happen!!!
idea is simply, if competitor has 100 pages, you need 100+, so it is better to make content rich 200 pages ;)) search for competitor link partners, and use your keyword rich link descriptions!! Do it for 3 full months, and see, what happens! if it is not good, continue to work even harder!!!
doh.. i'm tired ;)

About your FORUM -
well, sorry for critique, but it sthinks;))
this is absolutely the same stuff like "welcome to my home page" : )))
don't bore visitors, give them a value not the one sentence "Welcome to the new Growing Matters web forum. Feel free to discuss gardening, offer or ask advice, gardening tips or Growing Matters Garden Project."
give them 5 to 10 posts with advices or stories to which they could attach their knowledge or oppinions!!! and/or benefit from them of course!
Also put keyword rich content, put back links to your site! use again in the links lot of dercription words and so on!
MEN!!! start working ;) I don't wonder that only 5-8 visitors a day!!!

Argh! It's Green
Argh! It's Green...
This is the first thing I got a blast of... Green
The backgroung color loads about 1/2 second before the page text etc.
This "flash" of color almost made me freak out.
I suggest you change it.
Low Traffic ...
You did not say how old the site is, it can take 2 to 3 months just for search engines to list you.
Also promote, (suggest), pages that link to you to search engines, over time this should help.
