Default Tools to analyze inbound links

Hello friends,

Getting back links from relevant and reputed sites adds to the page rank and ranking in search engine result pages as well. Can anyone suggest me some tools that can analyze the links in quantitative terms? I am looking forward for some expert views….

How about an amateur view? The "link" operator on Google doesn't show you all the backlinks they've crawled, but you can see them if you create a Google account, setup an XML sitemap then log into their webmaster tools section.

I like the tool webnauts pointed out, but it won't be able to tell what Google has for you - just a sample.

I've never heard anyone say this is true, but the link: operator would appear at least to give results in order of relevancy/page strength (for all engines).

Also, not sure quite how or why this works, but you can get Google to show you more backlinks by entering this search string:

www.website.com/ -site:www.website.com/

Obviously put your own domain in twice, rather than website.com

Good suggestion Ctabuk. In this post I’m providing my Site’s URL. But one thing I’m yet to get from somebody that whether there is any literature available online which will give me a qualitative picture of each kind of inbound links to a particular website......

That's the kind of thing we'd all like to know. If we knew exactly where to post links that Google would rate as ultra relevant to our site, and push our sites up in rank, guess what, we'd all concentrate on those kind of links. Pretty soon the word would be out, spammers move in on the action and Google stops returning relevant results and clogs up with spam. That's why the algorithm is kept secret.

Any literature that claims to know exactly how Googles' algorithm rates links is a lie. Please don't buy anyones $10 e-book claiming anything to the contrary!

There is a free tool that I use that does this ('Link Value' seen below), although I have yet to verify if it's accurate. I read that the link value is based on 40+ search engine factors.

Download here:

Spyglass can also be queried 2 ways: By 'keyword' or by 'website'. This can be another tool that can help you find relevant links, however, it is not much different than searching through advanced operators. (i.e. link:, allintitle:, etc.)

When doing competitive anyalsis and keyword research, I use this tool mainly for the "anchor text" (as seen above) - it shortcuts some work that I find myself doing repeatedly. As with anything, you shouldn't just use only 1 tool or focus on 1 part of your campaign. YMMV, this has been my experience.

Unfortunately, there isn't an easy answer regarding linking - providing your customers with valuable information that gives them a good reason to link to you naturally and a lot of elbow grease on your part is the surest way to go in the long run.

Hope that helps,

Danielle

That is excellent! The clearest listing of backlinks that I have found. My site (in sig link) is languishing on Page Rank 0 and I am baffled. Now I can analyse all the inbound links much more easily and try to fix things.

Thanks for posting this

Thanks a lot carpediem for the link and the information.

As links from education sites are more valuable for the search engines, are they really helpful to draw more traffic to a site?
