Default How do you know a website is linking back to you?

Hi All,

How do you test if someone has placed a link on their pages for you? I am going through cleaning my links page and would like to test if the websites I link exchanged with still have a link back to mine.

your help is appreciated.

thanks,
T

You could just visit the website and check to see if you see your link. Another way I use is to check my stats to see where visitors are coming from and I've discovered new links to my site that way.

well.. i am trying to clear my link list - as you know in google you need as many links back to you as possible. and if these people claim to have links to my site and they dont! i rather get rid of them. so i might not see any people visiting my site though their website.

the only way i have been trying is going to yahoo and typing in the url of that site + my website name. some tend to come back with the pages my link is on, and others show nothing. <-- those are the ones I am getting rid of!

just thought there might be some tool people use for that!

thanks :)

This is pretty cool link checker. I was quite shocked at our results. If you have lots of links it can take awhile to check links and anchors.

The difficulty about this one, as I myself, wouldn't use people's tracking codes. As we use XML and we need clean URLS..

thanks though:) will add it to my tools list..you never know, I might need it one day ;)

Here is a cool tool:

http://www.links-reciprocos.com/

You will need the url's of where you are being linked from. But in you have a database or spreadsheet, it is nice because you can put in 50 lines of urls at a time.

Here is the english version:
