Greetings and Salutations!
A wond'rous Saturday to all (for whom it is not already Sunday)!
I have been frequenting this forum for a few weeks now, stuffing my brain with everything it can possibly grasp about Webmistressing and the Internet.
I am in the unique position of being in ownership of a rather huge website whilst knowing relatively little compared to (what I think of as) "most Webmasters" -- I am positively frolicking in all the new understandings this place is kindly granting me, and I am beyond grateful for the opportunity.
Happy day to all of us, old and new -- I hope to make some wonderful new friends on my journey to enlightenment. I'll be sure to share any unique experiences I have had in my endeavors, too; I figure we've all got something to bring to the table.
Happy Webmastering!

Re: Greetings and Salutations!
I am also new here, so cannot officially welcome you (you're senior to me by hours) - but I simply HAD to reply to someone who opens with "Greetings and Salutations". Whether or not it's relavent to your title, I do an excellent Christian Slater impersonation, lol.
I will be learning alongside you, and hopefully helping here & there as well.
Your post is indicative of a sometime (or full time?) writer, or certainly a serious reader (who should write). Yes? Professional (the other thing I do) curiosity.

Re: Greetings and Salutations!
Well, hello -- shall I call you "Yellow"? (Although that reminds me of an insult in an old Western... "Are ya yelluh?")
Actually, when I said, "Greetings and Salutations," I was thinking of Charlotte's Web! But Christian Slater's is a hat I'll gladly wear. Having graduated from high school in 1990 (the time of Pump Up the Volume), and having so loved that movie, I will never be found arguing about being related to him.
Hmmm! I wonder if one could call me a writer. I'm the one you asked, so the answer will be inevitably more complicated. (Oh no, she's going to wax philisophical...)
I have a friend who said (perhaps it wasn't her, originally), "A writer is someone for whom it is the most difficult to write." I suppose it is a little challenging to floor me with literature, but I am far from a snob (I love Bronte, but I also love Steven King). Have I written creatively? A little. Am I prolific or known for it? Besides my professional work with my website, sadly, no. I believe I have chosen to represent writers insead, as I do have the love of it.
Along with 'writer', I have been called a wordsmith and a politician. Do you think I was being 'cussed out'?
In all seriousness, I am a writer in that I head up a website that has a million monthly users, and so, anything I say online must be very carefully and intuitively written (my membership is a particularly dynamic, intelligent, and emotional one). I'm the girl with the responsibility to give the low-down on site happenings to the public, good or bad (there is no bad -- only learning, I know), and mediate the staff. And, I was originally 'hired' for my 'way with words'... so, the long answer (which is something I am known for) is "I dunno, but it'd be an honor to be called one."
The short answer is probably "Yes," but I squirm a bit about it. Although I represent a website chock-full of writers, to me, that's a big word!
Welcome, my birth-twin in WPW -- let us become smarter together. (And thank you for asking about me -- I am sufficiently flattered! It is good that you aren't selling anything.)

Re: Greetings and Salutations!
Pump Up The Volume is an all-time great; I own it and never tire of it. However in order to associate Mr. Slater with the quote in question, one would need to reference Heathers, another cult great from the same era. Sadly, I missed the Charlotte's Web reference altogether! Perhaps I should watch less pop and get back to the classics! :embarassed:
I identify very much with your response and summation of 'writer', and find it extremely well put! I'll not clutter your thread expounding; suffice it to say I too wear the hat awkwardly, though I've necessarily had to recognize that it does - somehow - fit my head.
I believe just enough in astrology to wonder what else we have in common, given our join dates and other apparent similarities, lol. Perhaps the stars aligned only for our "birth" here. Regardless, you return the flattery calling me your WPW birth twin, LOL.

Re: Greetings and Salutations!
Yellow -- I am now, officially and most pleasantly, wigged out!
Don't tell anyone (that means the rest of you have to look away now!), but... I am an astrologer! Ohhh boy, did I ever get a charge out of that. Indeed, we must now be friends, go bowling, and call each other "George".
(Okay, you can look again... if you're sure you want to.)
Yes, I know it was Heathers in which my favorite Christian said "Greetings and Salutations!" -- it is but the splendor of my ADHD that leapt me from one to the other. What a great movie (and I'm not really a movie buff). I cannot help but admire the of lighting one's cigarette off of the explosion of an ex.
Oh, and don't worry; it's not as if I'm particularly cultured. One of my favorite things in the last few years of my life is an anime. :embarrassed too:
Lest I hijack my own thread any further, I shall now put a sock in it. (There is a "Breakroom" forum for dinking around, and the last thing we need is to be smacked down a whole 48 hours into our membership!)
But first -- good! I meant to return the favor of flattery. What am I (are we) if not professional flatterers? Ugh... now I need a bath!
Welcome to us!
