I am the owner/instructor of Fireside Books & Tutoring. We are a family-oriented store located in the small town of Flippin (home of the Ranger Bass Boat), nestled in the Arkansas Ozarks. We sell our books internationally through our site, or through ABE, Half.com, Barnes & Nobel, and Amazon. We also offer tutoring, editing, book appraisal and Free book search services online or in person. As a single parent, I raised my son who had Tourette's Syndrome, ADHD, and epilepsy, and took in "street kids" (from the streets of Milwaukee...really not a problem here in Flippin...). I helped these teens get out of gangs, back into school, &/or get jobs. I also worked as a tutor for West Texas State University and Milwaukee School of Engineering. In addition, I spent 20 years in the field of Chemical Quality Control and Statistical Quality Control. For the last 3+ years, since we opened the store here in Flippin, I have been tutoring the major subjects for all ages, all grade levels up through undergraduate (including SAT, ACT, & GED prep). I've been a book collector all of my life. While I was working with the young people in Milwaukee, we started a family project of selling used books on weekends (yard sale caliber), which grew as people began requesting "2 for 1" trades. (Remember, I had a life time collection to start with!) I discovered that teaching young people and selling books was something I really enjoyed. My parents live in Bull Shoals, Arkansas (10 minutes from Flippin) and own Howard's Realty there (
www.howardsrealty.com ). When my father had a major heart attack 4 years ago (he's doing great now!), I decided to take the plunge and move down here (goodbye 401K money!!). Well...I love it! The other day the doctor asked if I am under any stress...I thought for a moment and had to answer that there is absolutely nothing in my life that is stressful! How many people can say that! I feel really blessed!
