Do a search for data (or file) recovery software or programs and you'll see there's a lot of free ones out there. If you've lost data you need to recover, the key is to NOT USE YOUR PC with that HD still on it. The more you use it, the less of chance you'll be able to recover anything. If the HD is fried, then of course no software will help you and you'll need to find a professional data recovery place that can recover data off of a damaged HD.
