REMOTE ACCESS - someone controls my life - please help
I came back home recently and discovered that on my computer there was a strange mailbox opened. Closer look someone was logged in as a person we though as a potential sponsor for the charity project we run. As it turned out the sponsor was made up, it was a fraud. Why this mailbox was opened on our computer – perhaps whoever was doing it to us, playing the mind games, wanted us to know.
The remote access on our computer was switched on. Now we switched it off but what security is this? This wasn't just a cruel joke but one of the series of similar incidents. I suspect who it was (past relationshop sometimes being a pan) but we have no proofs. My ex partner write to me two years ago and gloated about how he managed to manipulate my life over the last 5 years. Apparently it was his obsession. He controlled my e-mails, change my e-mails, contacted sponsors, made up “friends” and “sponsors” who talked to me, even transferred money from my bank account and turned my mobile into a listening device. But what proof is this for the police, it all probably looks like I wrote all these e-mails from sponsors and my exboyfriend myself – as he had a remote access the e-mails may look like they originated on my computer.
That's all really clever and really cruel. Is there any way, any signs that would be on my computer that would show the fradulent activity? What is the best ay to protect myself in the future. IT's so very difficult to live like this, being hunted each day by an obsessive maniac with resources and will to destroy your life. Is like living with a chip in my head. What do I do

Re: REMOTE ACCESS - someone controls my life - please help
After an intrusion, there are often logs that the attacker did not manage to delete, and there may be other forensic evidence of the attack. If the person has done anything with your finances or those of your business, contacting law enforcement has to be your first step. Touch nothing on the attacked computer so the computer crimes department of the appropriate law enforcement division can do a proper investigation.
It is important to note that if a computer attack results in a financial loss - theft from a bank account for example - you have the best chance of a thorough investigation and the arrest and conviction of the attacker. Laws regarding hacking can vary widely, and investigations can be expensive and time consuming, cases involving real losses (theft of money or property, not harassment or theft of information) are more likely to result in a conviction, and thus will get more attention from law enforcement.
Your second step is to get a security consultant that you can trust to go over your entire network with a fine tooth comb and secure that network to the hilt. If a casual attacker who is trying to harass you can get in so easily, a more malicious attacker can likely do much worse. There is an old saying, "Hope for the best, but plan for the worst." That is what you need to do now. Hope the attacker is convicted, but plan that he won't and take every precaution possible.

Wige is dead-on! Follow his advice!!
Don't hesitate to contact the Police. Computer crime is pretty serious stuff and they don't take it lightly, especially if the intruder is messing with your bank accounts.
Good Luck

To avoid this situation in future you can select users in remote access service and allow only those users to access your computer remotely and provide strong complex passwords containing characters, numerals and special characters.
