spammers looking for high PR

i find when my PR went up so did the spammers. it seems they target sites with higher PR. it didn't matter that my traffic was low one month, just the PR mattered to them it seems. i really don't have time to moderate my comments on my blog so what the heck should i do. i have anti spam CAPTCHA installed and working... spammers keep coming.

If you are using a decent blog script then it should have Askiment support for automatic filtering of most spam posts. Also blocking trackback useragent in your htaccess file will stop a lot of spam. Sites like Spamhuntress are good resources for knowing how to block spammers from even accessing your site.

wordpress has akismet built in but you do have to activate it (in plugins) and also get a key to make it work. But it's a definite advantage to use! It blocks a several hundred spam comments on my blog monthly.

as far as the amount of spam.. yes the better you rank the more you will get. What's that saying.. the higher up the totem you are the more your butt is exposed, lol...

using wordpress... yes i have captcha and other plugins working. they still manage to get through a lot with multiple comments posted.

I use Serendipity and between Askimet, word banning in the messages and urls and my own blocking of certain useragents and ip ranges my spam is minimal. But then I doubt my site is as popular as yours.
