Default Mechanisms to Recover Stolen PC

Hi,

Yes - it's too late for my stolen laptop, but I would like your advice on services/software/firmware that claims to recover 75% of stolen PCs.

The US FBI claims that only about 3% of stolen computers are recovered.

Funny that with M$ always wanting to get into your computer to check things, they won't help with a database of known stolen license numbers and looking for them when the computer gets online. Ditto for other big software companies.

The only one that would help was the computer company itself. They took the serial number and if the thief tries to get help from them, they'll try to get as much info from the thief before telling them that they can't help them. Then, they will contact me. But the chances of that are probably 10^10 to 1.

Here are some companies that I found that provide mechanisms to recover stolen computers. The third claims to be able to delete the data after it's stolen. I'd like a review on the methods that they use and if you think it will actually work.
If you have another recommendation, please let me know.

LoJack for Laptops - Stolen Computer Recovery Service
PC PhoneHome tracks and recovers lost or stolen computers. Only $29.50
Computer IT Asset Tracking & PC Management Software
GadgetTrak for Macs (I need a Windows solution, though).

Thanks!
