.htaccess troubles.

I am having trouble with correct syntax for my .htaccess file. I say that because the web sites and IP address I have tried to block, still get through.

On blocking specific URL addresses, when I put [OR] behind the RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} telkom.net\.id [OR] and do this on each one... no one can access my web site and I get error message 500. The [OR] at the end of the USER AGENT does not trigger the 500 level errors.

I tried to block IP addresses from China as well as specific web site in the DENY section at the end... but none of this seems to work. I am still getting visits from these sites, which eats into my bandwidth. Any suggestions as to syntax, order of elements below...

Hi there. I noodled around and found some answers on my own.

Here's what my new .htaccess file looks like. When I check my stats the rest of the week I'll be able to see if it really worked. Here is the web site that helped me.

Hi all. You know what, the 'fixes' I implemented don't work. There are still a lot of sites on the blocked list that are making it through each week. I can see via my web stats. I don't think this .htaccess file is blocking anything. URGH.

I even went and blocked all traffic from a whole range of Chinese IP addresses, that didn't work. Blocking the URL's didn't work either.

Do any of you know .htaccess well enough to tell me why what I have posted doesn't do what it is supposed to do in terms of blocking IP addresses and referrers from specific web sites?
